I drove 40 minutes after a tough nursing shift just to get the special PokƩmon "Mega Evolutions" card packs for my child's birthday. The whole trip was a total bust.
I was scammed.
Right away, the packaging felt too thick, which was suspicious. When I got home I opened the "Mega Evolutions" sleeves, they didn't hold the right cards. Someone had meticulously resealed the product to hide cheap, obsolete "Trick or Trade" packs from two years ago. I paid for a premium collector's item and got worthless junk. $6 for a $0.90 pack. This was a clear, calculated fraud using the store as the final step.
My attempt to get a refund revealed the store's shocking negligence. A representative admitted they had processed the fraudulent return earlier that day. Despite knowing the product was compromised, the store still sold it to me. They initially committed to a full refund, but quickly retracted it when I mentioned I couldn't come back until the next day. The new, callous answer was, "sold as is."
The manager then conceded that their inventory system is likely compromised by criminal activity, acknowledging that the initial returner and the resealer are probably working together. Yet, despite confirming the fraud, the manager refused to remedy the situation for the victim (me). When I asked for the District Manager's contact information, the manager abruptly hung up.
The store's complete refusal to accept liability for enabling this scam has forced me to deal with inflated scalper prices to get the gift my child expected. This specific location has proven itself to be untrustworthy and actively complicit in documented...
