Nice gift shop with responsible prices. Gave it 3 stars (due to no response reduced it to 1) as our child has special needs & a medical issue that exempts him from wearing a mask - note from pulmonologist. We purposely went early in the day to avoid crowds. The gift shop had maybe 7-10 people - it's not a small store, social distancing was easily accomplished. We explained the situation to the mgr she immediately raised her voice so everyone could hear & became incredibly defensive. Said she didn't care what medical issues our son had & that he had to leave. Told her to please lower her voice, which she ignored. Worst part is our son was right there, hubby was trying to get him out of the store, I was trying to get her to wait to speak until he was out of ear shot but she continued being rude & aggressive. Have a little more compassion & professionalism.
UPDATE: posted this more than a year ago. Nobody has responded nor reached out too us. Regarding your policy, it is what it is. The issue was NOT your mask policy. The issue was your mgr's unprofessionalism. Yelling, raising your voice was completely unnecessary. Your attitude towards a child was disgusting. The mgr & clerk were in their 50's maybe early 60's, old enough to be able to conduct themselves in a more...
Read moreArrived in the evening to see the monument lit up. It's a very impressive sculpture and lives up to it's reputation as an icon of Americana. However, the staged 8pm ranger talk and film about our country's history felt heavy-handed and glossed over the killing of native Americans and the decimation of their culture. There we're statements about Western expansion like, "...may not have been in the best interest of the original Americans", and later, "... unfortunately, greatly reducing native populations". At least there was some understated acknowledgement though. Also, I'm not a fan of Zantera as a consessionaire, as they brand and cheapen everything they touch, but I was grateful for the ice cream acoss from the kitchy souvenir shop. Also on the plus side, they called all veterans to the stage for a flag ceremony at the end of the program, so there is a bit of a ceremony honoring vets every night there. While I'm not a vet I really...

Outside the gift shop on the way back to the parking garage an older family had a woman using a walker. They needed help over the plywood makeshift path. I got them to the entrance. A hose was in the way. I had no idea how to help them over the obstical. My wonderful children pitched in to lift her over the hose. We looked away for a second. She was on the ground. Her Brother was on top. Visable bleeding from his legs and thighs . Another mom jumped in and helped out with wipes and bandaides. A visiting 1st responded was the next on the seen. He was cautious. The park employees had to be told to radio for first aid. He should have called an ambulance. Instead he cleared her. Not the brother.
We controlled the traffic and it took 25 minutes for park 1st aide. They needed an...
