Firstly, I have to say that the owner/operators of 1Stop are super welcoming and friendly, and I loved that they didn't hover at all while I looked through the Pokemon card loose singles and singles binders. I really wanted to give this place 5 stars; however, the Pokemon card singles were almost universally priced quite a bit above their market value. Some cards were right on market value. For instance, the SV 151 Charizard SIR was exactly at the TCG market value. Then again, most others were overpriced, often a multiple of the market value. I don't think they are purposely trying to gouge people, it's just that card values are pretty volatile for a while after release, and it must be extremely time consuming to try and keep up with an ever changing market. That being said, I think it would be greatly beneficial for them to have a policy of just across the board TCG market value plus 5 or 10% or something similar. I came in prepared to spend a couple hundred on singles today, but I ended up walking out empty handed because I couldn't justify to myself spending almost twice as much. If they institute a fluid pricing scheme where cards dont even need to be priced, just checked for market value at point of sale, I would definitely pay a little more for not having to wait for something to be shipped to me. I've seen some other card shops do it...please consider a fluid pricing model based on current market value (TCG). You guys would also save a ton on labor not having to price and reprice singles. Anyways, I'll definitely come in to buy some etbs and booster bundles etc just to support a local small business with super friendly and welcoming people. But what I would really love is to buy pokemon singles at or near current market value.
Update: just want to say I respect the owner's response. As I said that I suspected was the case in my original post, he has said the pricing vs value gaps are often becaise it's impossible to keep up with ever changing prices. I totally understand that. That being said, I thoroughly disagree with using ebay sold vs tcg for pricing and I believe 9/10 people in the Pokemon community would agree. The response really makes no sense because the TCG market analysis takes into account every sale of any individual card at each condition level (neat mint, lightly played, etc.). You're also looking at what people are currently selling it for on TCG vs what cards have been sold for before on ebay sold. I would argue all that matters at point of sale is that someone can't get it much cheaper elsewhere. When tcg has 50 near mint listings all within a couple dollars of each other, I don't think that you can make the assumption that none of those are actually near mint and you need to see an individual picture of a single sale (which could easily be an outlier, especially with ebay). However, this isn't my business and they can run it however they want. I do disagree, but not angrily or anything. These people are really really sweet. Also, the fact that he responded that they are willing to reprice, based on current market, if asked, really just proves how awesome these people are. I'll definitely be coming back to give them my business, and I'm gonna go ahead and bump this from 4 to 5 stars. Thanks for the swift, kind...

If you have kids that are obsessed with PokƩmon cards, I encourage you to bring them in to check it out! They have a ton of cards for you to look through and I guarantee a lot of them will definitely catch your little ones attention that only cost a few dollars. (EX, GX, V Cards etc.) This is nice if you don't want to spend too much money on boxed products to help your child pull a card of a PokƩmon they love. (But don't take away from the fact that they also have a healthy selection of sealed products too!) I have a classroom of students who take pride and joy in Japanese cards which they have plenty of and can bring a definite wow factor to your Childs collection. They have a few products in there to help accommodate storing your Childs cards such as boxes or binders. A little girl came in to pick out a booster pack with mom while I was in there and the staff member working was very attentive and even cheered her on as she ripped open her pack she earned for the week. It was very encouraging and I absolutely loved to see it.
My whole collection of cards were stolen this last November so distraught, I decided to check out this shop to try and expand again and I am so glad that I did. Their PokƩmon Card collection felt ENDLESS and I was able to stock up on some amazing cards they had. They have graded and ungraded cards, vintage cards and newer cards. The prices are fair and customer service was awesome. The gentlemen that helped me out showed me a few things that I really found nostalgia in. I had picked up a Pikachu V card that had an imperfection I found when I got home and they were nice enough to allow me to exchange it for another copy the next day.
Shawn (Owner) was great; he really wanted to help me find a Leafeon card I was looking for. He pulled out a box from behind that wasn't on the floor and after a few minutes I finally found my card. With card shops, I usually feel uncomfortable and I just want to grab what I want and dip but Shawn really made me feel welcomed and I was able to take my time with going through the cards. I have yet to check out his other location or attend any of his events but I am looking forward to become apart of his PokƩmon community.
The only bad thing is that I am beating myself up for the number of times I've passed by the shop without giving it a chance!
Thank you 1 Stop Card Shop for taking care of my PokƩmon needs, I am so grateful and I will be going back...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo I went in a couple weeks ago to look for PokĆ©mon cards with my 11 year old son. Iām of Latin desent and when we walked in we didāt get the normal ā Hi how are you today, can we help you find anything?ā , and mind you the place was empty except for 2 workers in the front and another at the case showing a couple, some PokĆ©mon cards. So my son and I go over to the counter and we patiently wait for the worker to finish showing the couple the cards. Ten minutes literally went by and not even a nod at us or a āIāll be with you guys soonā . I literally heard the worker tell the couple āanything else, I have all day, thatās what Iām here forā. When I heard this I was appalled. I told my son to go to the other workers who were just chit chatting and never came over to us. I finally said ok Iāve had enough obviously weāre not welcomed here to my son so we turned and left. Not even a āhave a nice day or anythingā . We saw a man come inside with his son and we heard loud and clear āHello how are you guys todayā. I told my that whenever he encounters a situation like that where no one acknowledges you or anything he should not waste his time there. We were excited to look at cards but ended up feeling completely disregarded due to our race. No one should ever have to feel this way. Shame on you to these workers at One Stop Card Shop...
