Iāve been coming to this location since 2018 and have visited the other the Sesame Donuts for over 18 years and visited a few of the Mr.Maples in Washington as well. I have to say that the staff is nice but incredibly slow and unconcerned with how that affects people on their way to work. They can not multi task. The two women who have been there the longest have no comprehension of time or urgency. There can be a line of 10 people out the door and the older woman is always on her head phones listening to something or even on the phone instead of engaging with the clients and completely out of touch with reality. Itās fine when youāre not in a rush but when it takes you 17 mins to get 2 donuts when there are only 3 people ahead of you, and then there is no coffee made it gets old. This is the only location like this. The past several times that Iāve come in over the course of the last 6 months there has been no coffee made and the donuts have been stale. The GF donuts are not even edible. I have been going to the Hall location when they take too long and it is much better (except for an older man who is a complete jerk). Iāve come here on a daily basis for years and Iāve got to say as a business owner the fact that nothing has improved over 6 years at this location is ridiculous. I am leaving this post for the owners so that perhaps they can improve their quality of service and if so, Iāll remove the post. If not. We will just go elsewhere. There really is no reason these locations can not improve in the quality and customer service considering theyāve been in business for so long. Everything has to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe manager provided some of the best customer service I have had the priveledge of receiving. I went in after hearing from a coworker how good their donuts were. I picked out 12 of some of the best looking donuts for me and my family. I went to pay for beatiful vox of sugary eye candy when my card was declined. No real reason given and I knew I had just been paid that day so I tell her I will call my bank and find out whats going on. She said no problem and she set my donuts aside for when this got straightened out.
Fast forward through a 20+ minute, very frustrating, call to be basically told that I was SOL until my new card arrived or I could get to a physical bank to get a temp card. I had just dropped my car off at the shop so I didn't have easy access to the closest bank. I went and explained this to the manager that I couldn't pay for the donuts.
She very generously insisted that I take the donuts and simply pay her later. I offered her my sincerest thanks and my promise to back as soon as I could. I immediately went home and rearranged my schedule to walk to the nearest bank. Took a couple hours, but finally got a working temp card. I was able to get back to her shop close to 12 hours later and guess what? She was still there!! She had probably been there since before they opened and still had a smile on her face and a cheerful attitude.
TLDR; Had issues paying, manager gave me free donuts.
P.S. Donuts tasted...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had never been into a donut shop as an adult - so this afternoon (12:00) was my first time.
I can say that the Apple fritter and bear claw donuts were huge! The coffee is amazing. Literally I was shocked at how good the coffee was (considering that itās really hit and miss with pit stop style black coffee). (Donut prices range between the classics and the fancy donuts - fritters are priced separately) I got an Apple fritter, bear claw and Bavarian cream filled, and a small coffee for 7.50. Fair price for value I felt. If you buy in dozens or half dozens - you will have to pick from donuts either in the classic or fancy style (they are priced differently). Since I basically ordered from 3 separate categories it made sense to just get what I wanted... not an entire half dozen from one category.
I saw a lot of people mentioning poor customer service here. My takeaway was that the gentleman at the counter was - stand off-ish but not necessarily rude. He said have a nice day when I left too. Iām not the type of person to take things too personally - but I can see why some people might struggle with that personality. Itās not super friendly but I wouldnāt say rude or unkind. Thank you Sesame for the service and good donuts š© I wonāt ask people to be someone they are not but hey š I hope your staff grow in the way they care for customers! Iāll come back here. Great place too if you just want a delicious donut and a regular - but...
