Black Moon Piercing Hillsborough — Local services in Hillsborough Township

My experience with this piercer was not good. The actual piercing part was fine, I went to have my tragus pierced in September. It was painful but the piercer was very personable & informative & everything healed up nicely. The piercer assured me that when I was ready to change my piercing out for a new one, I would book an appointment so the piercer themself could change it. Little did I know, that this wouldn’t be the case. After 6 weeks of trying to get an appointment, I finally got one. I was happy until the receptionist informed me that I could only change out my piercing with jewelry bought from their store. Mind u, their jewelry and piercing service is frankly very overpriced, and I already had jewelry I wanted To use. I asked why & they just said it’s policy, the piercer will not change out my piercing with jewelry I bring from home unless I can prove that it is sourced from a list of a few specific brands. This makes no sense considering all you need to do to ensure a safe change of jewelry is disinfect the jewelry and any instrument or hand that is inserting it. Furthermore they have no liability regardless, even if it caused infection it’s not like I can sue them. Now I know what ur thinking, why didn’t I just go somewhere else to change it out? Well u may be surprised to find it is almost impossible to get a piercer to change out a tragus. I have called all over New Jersey & no one is willing to do it. I ended up doing it myself using a shot glass of disinfectant and the assistance of my mother. It took almost an hour and ended up causing my piercing to bleed since neither of us is experienced doing this. Hopefully no infection occurred I took every step to ensure it didn’t. I have beef with black moon because why would they purposely deceive me into thinking they would change the jewelry for me. My piercer bri must have been aware of their “store policy” in which they only will change jewelry if u buy some of their outrageously overpriced items. But she told me that she would have no issue changing out my jewelry and conveniently forgot to mention this alleged policy. Overall, this piercer is deceptive and extremely overpriced. I found Black Moon literally just by googling for piercing spots near me, BUT I went there because they had 5 star reviews across the board. I was able to make a same day appointment so quick and easy on the phone, and let me tell you, they did not disappoint! I walked in to this VERY clean establishment and was greeted by Brie, who was super nice, funny, and chill - made me feel comfortable right away! She explained jewelry prices up front (much appreciated) and helped me pick some sweet opal earrings for my double helix piercings. She literally deserves more than 5 stars for how she prepares you for exactly what she is going to do - the process, the sounds you might hear, how to breathe during the actual piercing process - and she talks to you like you have been friends forever! You might not think that’s necessary, but it makes you forget you’re about to get a needle pushed through your ear..and in my case, twice! I 100% recommend going to see Brie and I WILL be going back for more piercings! ADDING A SECOND REVIEW JANUARY 2022: I had Brie pierce me about a year ago - I went in and wanted something that wouldn't work for my body; so she helpfully coached me through getting something else that I have loved, loved, loved ever since! I had to take them out this week though, for an MRI, and I was too worried about them going back in right that I booked a jewelry change to help reinstall.

Not ONLY was Brie wonderful, chatty, and comforting - but between having to re-do (with a different gauge) my newer piercings, and replacing a broken piece of jewelry she's sending back to the manufacturer with a temporary I really like - I've ended up well-taken care of.

11/10 recommend Brie and the crew at Black Moon. I will be back in a few weeks once my earring is fixed to add more and she's already helping me plan the expansion to my ear. Thank you, Brie!!
