They purposely overcharged me! Not sure if this place is under new management but my visit of 9/25/20 will be my last visit. I was a walk-in and placed an order to go. When asked for a menu I was given a paper menu, which was different from their usual large plastic covered menus. When I asked if they had certain items she said "yes". I mentioned I didn't see them on the menu. She stated something like revised or "short list" menu. Once finished ordering, cashier gave me the price and I paid. But while waiting for my food, I did the math in my head and something wasn't right. When I asked to see the itemized receipt, the cashier gave me an excuse that she'd closed out the ticket and had to keep the one itemized receipt for their records. She offered me to take a pic of it. Then she immediately started explaining a $2 extra charge; stating prices had changed on the two items I ordered "that were not on the paper menu". Then I noticed an added $1.50 charge for soup. The soup came free of charge with my meal. When asked about that, she stated she gave me the large soup. I responded that I did not ask for a large soup and why would she do that without telling me? She had no answer and immediately opened the register and returned my $1.50. I then questioned the $2 again, because I explicitly questioned the cost of the wings (which happened not to be on the menu) before ordering them. Now she was telling me the prices changed and she added $1. When I reminded her of my question, she decided to return the $2 for up-charging both the items that were not on the menu. I know some may say it's only $3.50, but it's not the money so much as it is the principle and morale character of purposely overcharging a person and trying to get away with it. It's dishonest and I can no longer trust them. So it was...

I had a great experience at the Hillsborough Star Diner when my family & I ate there a few days ago! The staff was very quick to seat us and was also very accommodating, stopping by every now and then to make sure everything was good. The food was also incredible with generous portions! It came out quickly and was just the right temperature when served, I ordered the Belgian waffle sundae w/ chocolate ice cream and I thought it was amazing, and the coffee is also very good! The atmosphere inside is also very nice with the brick and stone, also the seating arrangement is nice as there are some booths that are situated in "coves" that allow for more privacy if you want. Also, the parking lot is pretty big so there shouldn't really be any issues trying to find space. The check came to our table quickly and the price came to be $70.93 for the four of us (roughly $85 with tip), which I think is very fair! The building itself is very clean too, which helps make the overall dining experience a very worthwhile one! If you happen to be in the area, I wholly recommend visiting the HSD, I've only had their breakfast so far so I'm looking forward to coming back to try their...

My friend and I visited Hillsborough Star Diner on a whim one Sunday morning. Once we arrived we were seated immediately, and the place was really packed with patrons. Him and I ordered omelettes, home fries well done and hot coffee. The omelette was incredibly delicious and the home fries were seasoned incredibly well. One thing I noted was the plate and mug the food & coffee came in were all heated - so the food & drinks were able to retain their heat for longer. It's such a small detail but it makes all the difference when it comes to how the food tastes over time as one eats.

Amazed at how incredible the omelette was, we ordered pancakes with banana & Nutella to split and it was some of the most well made pancakes around. It was super large, fluffy and the Nutella & banana combo really hit the spot. I feel like this place is a nice little local gem that I discovered kind of late as I've lived in the area for over 10 years. I'll definitely be revisiting soon to try some of their other selections! This is easily a 5 star for me - highly recommend for everyone...

This is an official old school jersey diner. Very old school ambiance, pretty clean too. Nice staff with friendly service. The food wasn't bad. Nothing super special. The cheese steak was pretty basic, the onion soup was very salty. But the bacon, eggs and home fries were pretty good. The salad didn’t move me either. But nonetheless I'm not mad about my visit here and would return again. If I could, I'd give them a 3.5, because again the service was very good!!
