Beginning at the end here: After struggling to get the pontoon boat onto the trailer and out of the water, the driver of the truck for Splash Boat Rentals jumps out of the truck with a wrench and opens a valve on the starboard pontoon. Water poured out for the twenty minutes we we were there and continued to pour out as the driver pulled out of Llano County Park. As he was loosening that valve, he exclaimed "I knew I gave you the wrong boat, the one with a leaky pontoon when I watched you pull away this morning."

Really? You KNEW it had a leak and you didn't call us?

At least they didn't accuse us of doing any damage. However not a shred of concern on their part. The owner was dealing with his own personal tragedy and loss and made it clear to me when he was finally able to return my call that I was a real nin-come-poop. He kept demanding to know what I wanted from him (as if I was calling to extort my money back).

Again not a shred of concern over his own faulty boat, my family's safety or return business. A good business owner would have offered another chance to regain confidence in the safety of their equipment, thereby avoiding any possible bad reviews like this one. In addition, I work around the corner from this place and the company I work for does business with him. So when people ask about our experience with Splash Boat Rentals I will tell them the truth.

By the way, we didn't know it had a leak. (They however did). We noticed it listing some after returning it to dock. Then upon returning it to the launch sight which requires driving it in deep water, it began to list more and started to take on water. The first reaction from Splash Boat Rentals was "Why didn't you call us?". Umm, well I DID once I was safely on dry land, and why didn't you call US when you knew you were sending us out on a boat with a leaky pontoon?

After this type of conversation with the owner, he agreed to refund half our money, then he hung up on me. So one star for the refund. I would give half a star since it was half, but don't know...

As I'm writing this review I'm still in disbelief on our experience at this place this 8-17-2024. I called in last night to inquire about a boat rental, l got prices and information on what we would need to rent the boat, which was a drivers license and a credit card, and you had to be born before September 1993. All requirements my husband meets. We headed out this morning and everything was going great, we decided on the boat we wanted, handed over our license and credit card. Our total was well over 1000 dollars which we were ok with. The two men at the front desk were very nice and helping us through the process when the lady from the office "manager" steps out and says she is not allowed to rent to someone who speaks Spanish. I ask what she means by this and she again says she can't rent to some one who can't comprehend English. Yes my husband doesn't not speak English fluently but can comprehend and read it well enough to rent a boat! She stated it's written policy from the insurance which when I asked her to see this written she hid in her office and handed one of the men a sticky note with the insurance information. of course a 1800 number that is closed during the weekend. I really feel bad for the owner of this business because as a business owner my self I know how bad a bad employee can have an influence on a paying customer. I thought racism was a thing of the past especially in area known or advertised for tourism.

I forgot to mention that we did in fact speak to the insurance company and they were as shocked as we were to hear this, because this is not a part of their policy. Again this a was just a case of racism. A bad review is the least...

I went over the weekend and because it's considered off season, this place was a little splotchy with their customer service...They advertise they're open 7 days a week but you can't get anyone to answer their regular phone line and the emergency line is about the same. Once I finally did reach the owner he told me he was working on a skeleton crew and if I wanted to rent a boat I'd have to come there and get it. I expl'd to him that the ad we received said they deliver to all the highland lakes. So I told him we'd call back because there was a bistro that also rented and google reviews revealed that this place has the best burgers in the area. The minute he thought I was going elsewhere they decided to change their minds and called me back to say they would deliver. Then we tried Jetskiing the next day and same thing no answer on either line. I even stopped at the owners beer barn and they told me they could meet me but it would be a minimum 2 hour ride which is not stated on their advertisement either. I was disappointed and wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. The people that work under the owner don't seem to care much about the owner's business and it shows. They lost our business...
