FJW Aquarium — Local services in Houston

Let me start off by saying this stores appearance more than any other does not do it justice by any means. I found this location shopping around or new LFS's in Houston. I even have to admit that when I first pulled into the parking lot of this location I debated going inside. However, they are a Red Sea distributor and therefore I decided to make the leap. Let me tell you something it was well worth it!

Let me emphasize again that this store also in the top three of my favorite Reef Aquaria stores for the west side of H town. Reef Aquaria is an advanced level aquarium Hobby and should be respected as such. That being said if you are in the hobby or interested in the hobby, this is the place to be!

As mentioned previously, fjw is a Red Sea distributor, and for those who do not know, Red Sea Aquatics is one of the top five Reef Aquarium manufacturers in the country.

This alone makes it worth the visit. When I visited for the first time I had children with me and did not have a lot of time to speak with the gentleman. However, I will say that what little I heard him speak about while he was receiving new stock of Frags, appeared to be what I would consider advanced level knowledge.

I would easily compare my visit to a micro version of WWC only local.

I could easily go on and on about the benefits and pros of visiting this store. But we won't do that today I will simply say that I highly recommend this shop for any one interested in...

I have been in this hobby since 2005. For some reason I had never heard of this place until 2 months ago. The moment I stepped in I was completely blown away by the beauty and health of the corals. From LPS to SPS and soft corals I was very amazed. I'm used to seeing such high quality corals only online. That is why I used to get my corals almost exclusively from the internet. If you go to other fish stores in Houston their corals don't even compare to this one. I asked him which ones are for sale because I thought that the ones that were absolutely beautiful were only for display. Because at other fish stores that's exactly what happens. You see these awesome corals and then you asked him how much they are and they say that they are not for sale that they're there only for display. Then they point over to the half dead brown corals in their for sale tanks. When I asked Dennis the same question he told me everything you see is for sale! I have already spent quite a bit of money with FJW. But I don't regret it one bit. I'm very happy to contribute to this business to make sure that it continues so that I can have access to awesome corals that I can actually see before I buy them. Keep...

I never write reviews, but Dennis and his shop warrant one. Best selection of all of Houston for corals, fish, and equipment. His shop blew my mind when I walked in, ORA and Aussie corals everywhere. Huuuuge display tanks everywhere, and everything is for sale. I make the hour drive to go to his shop even though there is another LFS 20 minutes away off of the 45S/Beltway that I can go to, Dennis's shop is well worth the drive for some amazing corals.

The only problem is that Dennis is the only guy working there, so if there are more than two people, and especially if the other person is long winded, it takes a bit to get help, but you can't fault Dennis for that lol

When you do get help, Dennis is on it and does what he can to help. He also is pretty damn fair if you go in for trades. Defiantly check this place out if your looking for a new LFS, I can't say enough good thing about...
