J N Hair Salon — Local services in Houston

I came in here today expecting it to be clean and friendly and to finally get my hair done. I have read all the review so I had called the previous day and scheduled an appt for 10:30. I got there before 10:30 so a waited until at least on of the stylist to be done so I can get my hair done. While waiting a mom and a child came in the male stylist told the mom he doesn’t do children so he completely ignore her and went to the next customer ( red flag) after the other stylist finish with her client I was next but she completely ignores me as well( red flag) i waited an hour until the owner comes in and apologizes and told me that the stylist taught I was waiting for her to get my hair done I am new and i did not request anyone specific(red flag).So I sat down for my hair dyed it came out yellow the first time I wanted a light brown color- so she did again I did not like it I told her. She did not care and proceed to dry my hair and when she finish she went straight to the front waiting for me to pay. At this point i would not argue with this lady- I told her more than once I did not like it- and wanted it fixed. It was my fault i saw all the red flags of this place when I got there and i should’ve have left. There is no communication whatsoever, this place is completely dirty as I had tons of hair on the bottom of my shoe. I would not recommend this place to anyone. This is a place that you would get what u paid for and that is exactly what i got. I am not sure how this place has tons of good review because as soon as I got there a lot of bad customer service...

Extremely Disappointing Experience - Not a Salon!

I had two unfortunate visits to JN Hair Salon, and I can confidently say that I will not be returning. Firstly, it's important to note that despite the name, this establishment is more of a barber shop than a salon. They seem to struggle with anything beyond basic haircuts and, shockingly, they can't handle long hair at all.

On both visits, I requested a simple trim for my long hair, but they were completely clueless about how to handle it. Instead, they cut my hair like a typical dad would do. My hair looked like a helmet. It was evident that they lacked the skills required for even the most basic styling.

What added to the frustration was their unclear pricing structure. It felt like I was playing a guessing game every time they asked a question about the service. This lack of transparency was incredibly frustrating, and it left me feeling like they were trying to squeeze as much money as possible from customers.

To make matters worse, my hair was butchered both times I visited. It's disheartening to pay for a service and leave with such unsatisfactory results. I strongly advise anyone seeking quality hair care to look elsewhere. JN Hair Salon's inability to handle long hair, their reliance on clip numbers, and their unclear pricing make for a disappointing experience. I will never come back to this place again. Holly was the one that interacted with, and I have to say that she is incredibly rude. She only wanted to do what she wanted to do to my hair and not what I was asking. I wanted face framing highlights, but because I have some grays in my hair, I also needed to cover my grays. I was fine with that, but she insisted that I needed highlights all over my head instead. Which is not what I asked for, so I told her not to highlight my hair at all. Plus, it was going to be 280 to color my hair. So i decided just on the cut. By the time she was almost finished, I mentioned adding long layers to my hair, and then we argued about that. She wanted to do shorter layers, and again, I didn't want that, so she didn't want to do long layers. She did at least cut my hair straight but the rude remarks about my hair and her only wanting to do what she wanted to do was enough for me to decide I'll never go to this place again. She also said that adding long layers to my hair will look ugly. Customer service??? Where was it? This lady seriously should stop doing hair or take classes on customer service. Worst experience at a salon. She kept commenting on my grays, how oily my hair is, how frizzy it is... of course, she never put any product in it to tame the frizz either. Horrible experience, will...
