Reposting Review: I haven't made the switch to a new gym, but what's hilarious is the GM hired noodle guy for the front desk. What a joke. I also told the assistant manager there was glass all of the track/turf. He swept up most of the glass but didn't bother trying to vacuum the turf. I hope no one gets a shard of glass.
Original Post: I have been a member of 24 Hour for 5 years and at this location since they opened. I remember the days that this gym was pretty, new and clean. But that is no longer the case, it is one of the filthiest gyms I have ever been to (I travel for work and have seen huge gyms, well maintained and cleaned well.) They do not clean any of the machines ever, the cardio machines are covered in dried sweat. Disgusting. I also see people regularly walking around the gym barefoot, which is so gross and unacceptable.
Although, that is not the reason I am writing this review: my experience today is the reason I will be cancelling my membership. There is a man that sits on the sauna floor on top of noodles, today he chose to listen to his music loudly. Attempting to relax and listen to my podcast, I asked him nicely and respectfully if he could please turn down his music. He said "no, you have headphones. Turn your music up." I said I shouldn't have to turn my podcast up and deafen myself to block the sound of his music. I said that I am asking nicely, this is a shared space and I don't want to hear his music. He didn't care he told me to complain to the front desk. I said I don't want to do that, I'm asking you nicely. He refused, so I asked the front desk to tell him to turn it off. The front desk worker got the manager. But when the manager came in to the sauna he said "are you the one playing music, we've had a few complaints can you please turn it down" (with zero assertion and left). The other member turned it down one notch and started hysterically laughing bc he still got to keep his music blaring in the sauna.
I don't think this was well handled. In order to be in a "paid for shared space," respecting other members is #1. This includes and is not limited to: putting weights up, cleaning equipment after use, and utilizing headphones in the sauna. Secondly, the workers don't care that this gym has gone to literal ruins, or else they would hire people who maintain a reasonable level of cleanliness, ask members to wipe down equipment after use, and provide paper towels and cleaning solution (they are provided but typically out/low). Although this gym is affordable/cheap, and there aren't a ton of gym options in the heights, I will be hopefully finding a new gym that has standards. Apparently my $27 a month doesn't warrant a clean (which should be a bare minimum expectation) and peaceful...
Read moreI only use the pool, and hot/wet sauna, and joined November 2023, specifically for that. I pay the higher membership fee each month to month, because I only want use during winter when it's too cold to swim outside. Physically, the pool area is my workout. I cancelled membership today. We JUST survived the worst pandemic in history, and the sanitation at this gym in appauling. The pool area, sauna's are so completely disgusting, human hair, black mold, the tile floors are black, from dirty shoes, noticed a growing ring around the inside top pool edge, womens changing room lockers, hair balls, spilled solutions, dust/grease, showers have fluid residues, noticed mold in corners, benches or locker doors are not whiped, counter in sink area is soiled, hair balls, floors...do not even get me started at how disgusting those are, why are there no grab bars for elderly (like me to hold on to when showering),definately not ADA compliant, the only handicapped restroom has been out of order since November 2023, which I once used. How is anyone in a wheel chair supposed to use the bathroom? The handicap pool lift chair is so gross, why aren't they whiping that down? You expect people to walk barefoot in that pool area? Not happening. Come on! I told the front desk, the pool, sauna, and womens locker area is not clean, on a weekly basis, since joining. To please put a calendar up at the check in desk, if all those swim teams, swimming athletes, swimming groups, swimming clubs, or swim lessons are going to take up the swimming lane or multiple lanes, and I have to wait one-two hours, all hours of the day and evening, to swim 20 minutes, so then put a schedule at the front, like they used to, so I don't come and sit and wait. It's 2/12/24, and I still haven't had anyone do their job up front, nor had a the manager in/available to speak with, apparently doesn't seem concerned with the issues with cleaning and sanitation. It needs professionals to come in the evenings, like they do at an office, it's beyond just maintenance. It needs professionals! Very disappointed, and as a Senior I would not recommend this gym to my fellow Seniors or anyone else. I saw better cleaning before the pandemic! Clean it up 24Hour! ...
Read moreBeyond Disappointing! I have been excited about this new gym for months and had full intentions of joining due to its convenient location. Tried it out in mid January on a week night. I was immediately concerned about the lack of parking spots and noted several large vehicles double parked. Upon entering the gym, I was surprised to find it mostly empty - no classes in session, less than 1/3 of the cardio and weight machines in use; I can only imagine how difficult parking would be during a crowded time. The sign in process is supposed to be electronic, & there are several kiosks at the entrance, but hardly anyone on hand to help new comers with first sign in or provide any customer service. This made for an extended & confusing check in process for several people. This gym is full of modern equipment and amenities, but I found it very poorly laid out, with a very small/ crowded turf area and cardio machines so crammed in that there are very few walkways. They also have a nice virtual/ on demand class option available to members, but they only have 1 giant class room space, so I wonder how often this option could possibly be available. But the biggest problem by far is the front desk staff. They seem to go out of their way to be in-flexible, negative and totally unwelcoming (both on the phone and in person). One woman in particular was so unhelpful and rude that I turned around and walked out on my 2nd visit. I was contacted by a manager the next day and she did seem to be concerned about the issues I encountered, but the only thing she offered was another 2 day pass that had to be used immediately (I already had exercise plans those 2 days & no other options were offered). Based on all this, I’ll keep going to other local gyms- at least they make a basic effort to make customers...
