I'm not one to write bad reviews (or any reviews for that matter), but I just felt the need to share my experience. I have tried on a few dresses already and really loved 2 dresses of 2 very different styles. So, I wanted to go somewhere close to home to see if I could try on different dresses to see what really spoke to me. She never gave me her name, but I also never asked. So that's fault on both our parts. There were a ton of beautiful dresses! I honestly was excited to try them on! But I felt fat shamed almost the whole time. I am not petite in any sense of the word. I'm around size 12, very curvy in the upper and lower regions, but still very confident in how I look. I asked to try on one dress, and all she said was "it's a small" and stared at me expecting me to suggest another dress it seemed. I asked to try the one next to it, same response. I asked if she had any extra-large dresses to which she said they were all smalls. At this point I was ready to leave. What is the point of me coming in, if all you're going to say is "They are small" and stare at me? I understand a 12 can't squeeze into a 2. But work with me or ask me to leave. I really wanted to try on 2 slimmer fitting dresses. It seemed she just ignored me and only grabbed ball gowns. But whatever. There is a big curtain you change behind. I was expecting mom to come behind the curtain to help me get changed but no, she said she would do it. Which that's not an issue to me. My issue was after feeling fat shamed, she watched me get undressed and gave 0 privacy. Very uncomfortable. Mid way through my appointment, a man was outside the shop working on some windows. There was a gap in the curtain, and we made eye contact. My mom went outside and told the man what we were doing inside, and he very politely said he would go do a different part of his job that wasn't in front of us so he could give privacy. The girl working with me seemed slightly annoyed (I could be wrong) but said that no one can see through the curtain to see me... I was making eye contact and funny faces with my bridesmaids the entire time because she left giant gaps between the curtains. So yes, people definitely could see through the curtain. And if you know the area, this shop is in the Oregon District, which has a lot of foot traffic. If you're okay with strangers walking by and seeing you then go for it. I made eye contact with 4 men and 2 women during my appointment. My last complaint was that even after saying I couldn't try on and ignoring my request of dresses. While I was getting changed, my mom had watched her put other dresses I wanted to try away even though I never got to try them. My mom called her out on it, and I just said no because I was over the whole experience. Don't let my review and experience ruin you going. But I just felt the need to put it out there for any curvy women wanting to try on dresses, this is not the...
Read moreI went to David’s Bridal same as anyone else in Dayton, OH does and I was underwhelmed by the options I had. I looked up nearby boutiques looking for sleeves on my dream dress and came across this place downtown! I set up an appointment and went with my mom. Amina is such a sweetheart and pulled options within my price range and specifications quickly! The first dress I tried on was the one. With only one small alteration on the corset back and I had a bow from my mom’s wedding dress added to the back. Oh and a bísale! It was done as an affordable rate and done fairly quickly! I definitely recommend this place for modest dresses. She also had shoes, veils, tiaras, headpieces, tuxes...
Read moreThis place is amazing! If you're getting married, please check it out. The owner is super sweet and very accommodating. I did a walk in appointment, she was able to assist me in finding my dress (which is non traditional, but she has a ton of traditional as well). I'm getting married in Ohio, but live in Chicago and needed to do pretty big alterations to make it my dream dress, in which she was able to get her alteration specialist in the next day and we altered the dress a bit while I was there, so I was able to get an idea of how it would look. Love this place and will be bringing back my fiance for...
