It could be worse, but barely.
4 year old jeep had "service engine soon" transmission code. Cleared it once before bringing it in. Then code came back.. They said that they found no problems, but that they could see the code had happened. Then it happened again and again and again. I kept bringing it back, missing work and family time and they could/would not fix.
So then they gave up and honored the warranty to replace the transmission. I asked for a loaner and was told that they don't have any and the corporate office does not approve long rentals. Why a long rental? They did no know when the part would come in. So we drove around with the bad transmission. I kept calling back weekly. Finally I called and they said something like, "hey it came in, but we are not sure when...sorry we did not tell you." So then I make an appointment to drop off the car. I keep calling to check and finally they say that they have not started on it and I could have a loaner. Wait, why did I have a drop off appointment when they did not start on it that week? I have no clue. It is very, very difficult to call. Often I am bounced around because the service department cannot get to the phone.
So it is finally "fixed" and I go to pick it up. I start it up and the "service engine soon" light is on. Austen backs it out of the space and the transmission completely fails. Not forward or backward...I leave in the loaner again and took a picture of our sad Jeep left in the middle of the lot, not even pushed out of the way.. ...And then I go back because they kept my house keys :( I am no lawyer, but I believe these situations are why lemon laws exist.
A day later they dropped off the "fixed" jeep. That was yesterday. We hope this saga has ended.
My son is permanently and totally disabled. When healthy, he has just 4 medical appointments a week. This jeep is what we depend on to get him there and also the numerous out of state medical trips he needs. We have been grossly dissapointed in the reliability of this jeep we bought at Walker and their ability to fix it.
In the end, I will go out of my way to find an alternative next time. The staff was never rude and it appears they did honor the corporate warranty. While the loaner was a month or two late, it was almost as big as our Chereoker and allowed us to transport my son and his wheelchair.
Update: the "service engine soon" light came on after a few miles or driving. Utterly...
Read moreI don't normally write negative reviews but normally a business wouldn't work so hard for it. I took my Charger in to have it's oil changed and to get an inspection sticker. The inspection sticker it had was only two months old, it was just from my previous state. I had fairly current brake measurements written on inspection documentation in my glove box. So I drop the car off and come back and the car doesn't have an inspection sticker. The nice gentleman working the desk informed me that my brakes would not pass, which again was weird since they were just checked, front being 4mm and back being 6mm two months prior and the car only had 20k miles on it. When I stated that was nearly impossible the gentleman at the desk disappeared for 10 minutes and came back and magically my car now passed inspection. He stated the car would be brought back in and the sticker put on. I waited another 20 minutes and the car comes back out amazingly with no new sticker. Now the window tint is magically too dark which again was weird since it is how it was purchased from the dealer. Now granted, some dealers will tint windows of new cars and I could not protest more than to say I had not tinted them myself. At that point I asked them to just let me pay so I could leave. On the way home the service manager calls me with an attitude, explains the tint wasn't factory, tech supposedly measured it at 19%, which I didn't argue, but could not answer why anything else had occurred. Again, amazingly, I take the car to another dealer on the way home. Front brakes measure at 4mm and rear at 6mm and window tint at the legal limit of 35%. I was willing to accept an employee had a bad day, but for the service manager to call me with the attitude that he had while having literally no idea what all had occurred is bizarre. I'd sell my car before I ever took it back to Walkers. And I'll add that while initially waiting and browsing the parking lot, I was approached by a salesman. I told him I wanted a Hellcat Charger and was ready to purchase and that my wife was looking to upgrade her current vehicle to something bigger like a Durango and literally no attempt was made to inquire about or sell either when I literally would purchase...
Read moreAbsolutely horrific place to purchase a car!! I bought my 2018 Honda accord used in 2021with 57,000 miles. I’ve had nothing but problems with it. Thank god i got the extended warranty. I live over an hour away and have taken it to a different dealership to get some minor things worked on. A few months ago my car started acting up and eventually broke down. I had it transferred to walker to get fixed under warranty because they said that was the only place I could take it, although I’ve taken it to another dealership before. I called several times throughout the week and was transferred to service. It took forever to get someone to answer, if they did. They kept saying they would call me back but only did once or twice. Come to find out my 2018 Honda blew a head gasket. They give me a jeep cherokee to drive while my car is getting worked on, and there was a hole in the tire causing me to refill it every week. The oil needed changed desperately. Long story short, 3 months go by and I finally get my car back. When I got it back, it sounded like a diesel but still drove fine. I sadly didn’t notice it when I went to pick it up at the sales dept on a Saturday. If I would’ve, I would’ve told them to keep it and find out what the sound was because it did not sound right. I took it to the dealership close to home to check to see what’s wrong with it AGAIN. There ended up being too much oil in my car!! Problems with the valve cover gasket, needed a valve adjustment, and to reseal the timing chain cover. They said they couldn’t find exactly what walker’s service department did wrong unless it’s taken apart.. again! Thank god for my warranty because if not I would’ve had to pay $5500 for a job they didn’t do correctly. I now have to take it back up to hurricane for my warranty to cover THIS screw up that they did, if not it’ll be $1200 to fix at another dealership. I would never advise anyone to purchase their car from this place. Very unorganized and careless. Talk about...
