Night#1-First time going to Indiana Fair. Can't believe for $8.00 you get into the fair, and that includes the concert. Nothing better than seeing a group originally from San Diego.
Night 2......waited the wicked storm out to see KC. It's been about 8-9 years ago when I saw him at the Del Mar Fair. Now he is 68, and looks so different, but sounds really good still. He said it's tough getting older, isn't that the truth.
Night#3 Melissa Etheridge was one of the best concerts I have ever seen. At 58 years old she can sing, play the guitar, the harmonica, and the drums. She played with 10 different guitars. She is a very down to earth person, and one of her messages tonight was to love yourself when no-one else does. For $8.00 to park, and free AAA admission you can't beat that. Plus, a beautiful full moon tonight. If you have a chance watch some of the videos. AMAZING!!
The only downfall from always going to the Del Mar/San Diego County Fair, is the food. The food was terrible. The zucchini was these really thin slices. I was thinking they were going to be thick sticks. The pizza was soggy on the bottom, and the corn dog needed to have a bigger hot dog inside. Del Mar had these incredible Australian Potatoes, with cheddar and ranch sauce on top. Oh and Indy has elephant ears, and in Cali it's called Indian Fry Bread with the brown sugar and convey on top. Kissy has the brown sugar, chocolate or Carmel sauce. Yuck! Too sweet, the honey...
Read moreI love the Indiana State Fair Free Stage! There is always great bands and FREE music every year at the Indiana State Fair in August except in 2020 when there was no fair because of the pandemic. In 2021 they had my favorite Christian bands/groups like Casting Crowns, For King and Country and Hezekiah Walker. From year to year they have bands anywhere from country to pop, jazz and R&B to rock, 70s-2000's, Christian-Indy music, even punk sometimes...all kinds of varieties and genres of music. You never know what you will get every year on the Free Stage! And every concert is FREE with paid admission to the state fair! Come...
Read moreWe had a blast watching shows at the Indiana State Fair Free Stage venue. We saw Kansas on the first night of the Fair and then an oldies rock show, the Happy Together Tour, during the last week. Two tips: 1) Arrive around 5pm with your lawn chairs to 'reserve' your spot. You can drop them off / set them up, go see the Fair attractions, and then come back around 7pm to get seated for the 7:30pm showtime. 2) Try to pick a spot to the left as you face the stage, over toward the permanent brick buildings. That is the first area to get shaded in the...
