Terrible Management! I have never written a bad review in my life; however, Marlon has earned the privledge of being the first. I received a call from one of the employees on a Friday, although he was polite, I was very busy and in the middle of my workday. I explain that I would be by on Tuesday to make the payment. Although somewhat persistent that a payment was necessary immediately, he agreed to extend the day to Tuesday. Minutes later I receive a call from Marlon. It started like this..."Randall this is Marlon." I replied, "Hey Marlon what's going on?" He replies, "I don't know you tell me? My employee tells me you can't make a payment today." I said, "No I can't. I told him I would be in on Tuesday." This is where Marlon's bravado began to escalate. Marlon seemed upset that I was setting the schedule for payment rather than him authorizing the arrangement. Marlon was so focused to get his message across that he began to higher his tone and talk over me. the conversation got to the point that I told him to, lower his fu**en voice and stop talking to me like I was a child." His next response blew me away, "Well you are talking pretty brave on over the phone!" I said, "What I say to you over the phone, I would say in person!" Marlon... Marlon... Marlon, if you only knew! Anyhow, the point to this review is, Marlon tends to use his prison style tattoos, and loud tone to intimidate his customers, his lack of emotional restraint is a liability for Rent-A-Center and a poor reflection of this company. I spent many years in management, and I dealt with difficult customers where I had to learn that the customer should never be spoken to in such manner and NEVER provoked into a physical confrontation. THIS IS ABSOLUTLY UNHEARD OF!! I have contacted the corporate office to file a complaint and highly recommend NOT to do business with Rent-A-Center in Indio as long as Marlon is working there. If you need to do business with a rent to own business like this, I would recommend Aaron's over Rent-A-Center any day! Their selection is better, and staff is friendly and courteous. 5 Stars to...
Read moreI'm reviewing this store for a second time because of how insanely horrible they are. I was sold a used, scuffed, and slightly torn, tiny couch for the same price it was on clearance brand new at Ashley furniture...and when I was about to make a final 90 days same as cash payment I ran into car trouble and wasn't able to make that payment within the 90 day timeframe...I was only a week off and now am being charged 300% the original price. Every week I am literally harassed by the store manager Marlon for being just a few days late on a $60 payment! He will call multiple times everyday while I'm at work and leave voicemails and when I call to speak with him he's rude and talks over you. I've specifically told the store to NOT come by my house...its completely inappropriate and unnecessary for a $60 payment that's just a few days past due and yet it's happened twice. I've spoken with the general manager of the store who apologized and said I've been a great customer and agreed Marlon's actions were unacceptable, yet here we are again dealing with...
Read moreI wanted to put my experience down with this particular location. I am honestly surprised with the other reviews that I am reading that are negative. My family signed a contract to pay on a certain day, which is obviously customary. However, unfortunately for us we were not able to fulfill our payment on time. Marlon went over and beyond to work with us to make sure we were able to keep a refrigerator in our home for our kids. He was professional and kind. We are all extremely grateful....
