This was my first trip to the Palm Desert area, but I travel frequently for work. The hotel charged me $250 for the first night and $350 for the second night. I knew when I arrived that I should just leave. The property is run down, and there are locked gates everywhere. The entrance was dirty, the "lobby" was full of junk, and outdated signs and notices were taped up everywhere--like a bad youth hostel. The room was worse. Only one of the nine sink vanity light bulbs was working. Some of the outlets didnāt work. The vanity counter was cracked and swayed. The linens had holes in them. There was an iron but no ironing board. The clothing rack was barely held to the wall, with two of the four screws being missing, which meant it wobbled. The lamps were filthy and partially broken. The TV remote did not work. The facet in the shower leaked onto the bathroom floor when running. The bathroom light was on some sort of short timer that went out during the course of showering, which meant getting out of the shower in the dark to turn the light back on. The surfaces and floors were grimy and dirty. The door to the room had clearly been broken and was poorly repaired, so it never seemed to close correctly. While waiting for our taxi to go to dinner, I tried to address some of the room concerns. However, the staff person avoided these comments and instead interrogated us about our professions and income levels. Although this clearly made us uncomfortable, he persisted. The final morning, when we were checking out, the woman ahead of me tried to explain why she was leaving several days early and the problems she had experienced with her room. The staff argued with her and blamed her for the issues she experienced. The woman was very polite and patient, yet she was treated very disrespectfully by the staff. I cannot believe this property is a Windham property. The entire experience was horrible, and humans should not inhabit this property until substantial repairs and cleanings have taken place and the entire staff is given substantial...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe sleeping area of the room was adequate but the shower/toilet area needs to be gutted. The bathroom was poorly painted, there was a lot of overpainting on the tub/shower and tile as well as dark coming through the paint. The hotel is very hard to find and the signage is hard to follow. Once you are at the hotel it feels a bit like a locked-down jail or schoolyard. The place does not feel safe. Lastly, when we checked out we noticed on our a bill charge for $3.42. We asked what that was for and they said it was for housekeeping and everyone gets charged the Service Fee, however, the bill stated Service Fee Security. Our booking through Wyndham did not state any additional fees or charges. We provided the front desk with a copy of our confirmation and asked the manager to call us when she was in. I followed up the next day with an e-mail, and another call today but she had already left for the day. I know $3.42 is not a lot of money but it is the principal. The fee was not disclosed and they clearly know they are breaking the law by not disclosing it and tacking it onto the bill at the end of the stay. Their front desk staff also gives misinformation, telling guests ahead of us that their available credit on their credit card would not be decreased for the additional $100 deposit they required at check-in. We were told we were not charged the $100 because we were Wyndham member but the hold is still on my Amex for the $100. When we asked why they take an additional deposit they said people take things and smoke in the rooms. There are a lot nicer places to stay locally that are equally affordable - do yourself a favor and check out one of the other places. These people do not care and cannot be bothered to reply to a request for a callback...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOn Saturday Jan, 28 My wife and where coming back home from a road trip, we needed a place to rest before getting home, while on the road we used our phone to book this Motel 8, we are not expecting anything fancy just a place to rest for the night: we arrived at this place at around 6 Pm, we checked in, got the key to our room, I walked in to the restroom and found the most unpleasant situation, the sink is full of dirty water. My wife called the front desk, the phone was not answered, we walked in to the office and told the attendant, she replied oh, I will send someone, give me a minute, we went back to the room, waited for about 40 minutes, no one showed up to fix the drain, we tried again calling the front desk, no answer again: we walked in to the office again and tried to get the attendant to give us another room, sorry we are book she replied, I asked can we just cancel the room, she responded you can't get you money back because you used a third party to book the hotel. We waited another 20 minutes and no service man showed up, we washer our hands and brushed our teeth on the bath tub and went back to the office to cancel the service man, we felt shame on ourselves for not reading reviews of this place, there are plenty of people that have had negative experience on this location, How do you not take care of such situation before you send in a guest in to the room, This shows how unprofessional and careless the service staff at this place is, they are doing a disservice to motel 8 and to themselves: We learned our lesson for not reading reviews before booking this place, After you read this review we encourage you to keep on reading a few more reviews and save yourself a negative experience by...
