Taco Bar Catering — Local services in Irvine

I rarely give reviews but this was very upsetting. I decided to give Taco Bar Catering another go at it after showing up a little late to my birthday party last year. I figured it can happen to all of us... once...right? So, I hired them to cater my daughter's Wedding Reception which was held in my back yard. To make a long story somewhat short here's the service I was SUPPOSED to get:

1. Food served 30 minutes after guests arrived 2) food served in chafing dishes (which would be on the 3 six foot tables that i personally decorated with our wedding theme) 3) an extra drink flavor 4) 6 dozen enchiladas (personal request of the bride) 5) any left over food left behind (their standard policy) This is what I ACTUALLY got: 1) Showed up 35 minutes late and WITHOUT all of the food. They had to drive back to get the rest of it. By the time they returned and were ready to serve the food, my guests had been there for 1.5 hours! And they brought "6" individual enchiladas, not 6 "dozen" enchiladas. Also, No chafing dishes were used (food display tables basically empty, just the condiments and drinks on them), They served the food from the grill like a food truck, not a wedding reception. This created a long singular line and the last table did not get served until one hour after first table! we are now 2.5 hours into the reception. Also, one of the drinks was mostly emptied prior to dinner being served and rather than refill it, they poured one of the others into it. In addition, I had some last minute cancelations and had 10 less people than I had accounted for. Despite this, NO food was left over for us. Also, they caused our schedule to be so delayed, I had to pay the DJ an extra $100 to stay longer. I sent a letter to the owners regarding the complete mess up. Edwin was nice enough to call and apologize but unfortunately, I can't "re-do" the night. While I ended up paying for the actual number of guests in attendance, I didn't save much because I had to pay extra for the DJ. I also never heard from the owners. I will say their food tastes good, but what a disappointing evening that I spent so much time and energy...

I booked Taco Bar Catering for my son's wedding rehearsal luncheon which was on October 11, 2019. I can't say enough nice things about them. They were so responsive during the booking process. I ordered the deluxe taco bar. The price was extremely reasonable, especially considering the amount of meat choices, toppings and agua fresca. And... everything cooked fresh. Our luncheon was held outdoors at The French Estate in Orange, CA. A Taco Guy cooking onsite was perfect for the venue. This was a much better option then going to a restaurant and more affordable.

They showed up a little earlier than expected (kudos!) and went right to work setting up. Everything looked top notch, and the food was outstanding. I received so many compliments from our guests. The guests loved that they could order what they wanted and everything tasted great. There were two people cooking and serving so no one had to wait more than a couple minutes for food.

They let me know when they were done serving and I didn't even notice the cleanup taking place. I would highly recommend Gustavo and his crew for any party. They were very professional. In fact, I have been singing their praises to anyone who'll listen. I will definitely book them again!! ...
