Oahu Shave Ice & Ice Cream — Restaurant in Irvine

Okay so I hadn't been to Oahu in a really long time but after my son went with friends I started craving it and had to go. We drove all the way from Anaheim to get my favorite, coco-chata, but instead of chocolate ice cream they changed it to vanilla. I'm a chocolate addict and was very disappointed when we got home to find out the ice cream was vanilla. I decided to email the owner and let him know that they should probably change the website description as it states it's made with chocolate ice cream or have the employees make it as described. Not only did I get a lightning fast reply from Jason, he apologized, and explained that it had been changed due to customer demand. As if that wasn't enough he also gave me points for two free combos for my next visit. I will definitely be making the trip more often to support his business. Thanks...

True Hawaiian style shave ice. Not snow cones. Not weird flavors. The real stuff. Tiger's blood, melona, the lot. Condensed milk on top if you want. Scoop of vanilla ice cream in the center? Ok!

Also, served in the nice big wide bottom styrofoam containers that you can take home. Not those little sweating plastic flower-shaped holders that other people use.

Oh, and HUGELY IMPORTANT:

I had the horchata shave ice and it was delicious. A good balance of flavors and textures. I believe it comes with chocolate ice cream but I got it with vanilla. I really liked the cinnamon sugar topping, it made it really taste like horchata. There are many more flavors I'd like to try. It seems pricey, but you get a very large portion for the price.
