Absolutely Awful Experience with U-Save Car Rental I had the most infuriating experience with U-Save Car Rental, and I feel obligated to warn others. I booked a rental car through the Amex Express Travel website, which clearly stated unlimited mileage for the vehicle. However, when I arrived to pick up the car, I was met with an absurd and completely deceitful policy.
The office clerk informed me that only foreign travelers are eligible for unlimited mileage, and since I live in California, I couldn’t have this option. What kind of ridiculous and discriminatory policy is this? I’ve rented cars from numerous companies before, and I’ve never encountered such an outrageous rule. This is a blatant bait-and-switch tactic.
I immediately called the Amex Express Travel department to verify, and they confirmed that the rental was indeed listed as having unlimited mileage with no restrictions. When I called U-Save to clarify this, I spoke to Joe, who was completely unhelpful and lacked a clear explanation for this shady policy. He seemed to dodge my questions and couldn’t provide any documentation to back up their absurd claim.
This company is nothing more than a scam, trying to squeeze money out of customers by lying and misleading them. Their false advertising and lack of transparency are disgraceful. I wasted my time and energy dealing with their deceptive practices, and I will never rent from U-Save again.
If you value honesty and reliability in a car rental company, avoid U-Save at all costs. Their policies are shady, their customer service is useless, and they are clearly just out to make a quick buck at the expense of unsuspecting customers. Save yourself the headache and go with a reputable rental...
Read moreHad the worst experience with this company and had never been so badly treated before. Found this company on a third party website and despite the reviews they have, decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and go through them. The shuttle from the airport was easy to use and find and the driver was friendly enough.
When we got to the rental, it started off fine enough till we got to paying for the car. We decided to pay for the car using our credit card but the card was declined, despite having money on it. Then decided to try a different card just in case but that one didn’t work either. In trying to work out with the employee why it wouldn’t work, they advised “that it is our fault and we need to contact our bank” I advised them that this shouldn’t be the case as we have hired a car in America many times before and have been in America for the past few days so there is no reason for it not to work.
The employee refused to help us further as there was nothing he would do, and rudely dismissed us and served the people behind us. We requested to speak to the manager but the manager was just as rude and said about 3 words to us before hiding in his office. Requested that they try and come up with a solution or help us figure this out but refused to. Employee treated us like a waste of space and refused to give us the decency of even apologising for the inconvenience.
Decided to go to a different car hire where - yes in fact our card did work and the service was 1000000x better.
Moral of the story, if you’re an international visitor using an international credit card - please don’t waste your time in going to...
Read moreNearly every part of this experience was a nightmare. You have to wait for a shuttle to pick you up from the airport. The gentleman at the counter didn’t greet us but instead pushed a clipboard toward me and pointed “here,” apparently telling me that I needed to fill out the form. I don’t think I have ever been so rudely and harshly treated at a business . Then he charged my card without telling me how much he was charging. According to the rental agreement with Expedia, we were to pay a $350 deposit, but he said that went away a long time ago and they always charge $500. We told him that our reservation details said $350 and he just kept saying no and waiving his hand. Then ignored us to help someone else. Finally another agent came in and they charged my card the $350 plus the cost of the rental $160. According to the paperwork they charge you $175 to clean the car if you bring it back with ANY trash in it or sand. We had rented a midsize and they took us to a Kia Soul that was very dirty. (Multiple customers were coming back in and complaining about their rental cars being dirty while we were there). We went back in to tell them that we want a midsize and a car that’s clean. So then they offered us a Toyota a Corolla. Another compact. We gave in and decided to drive it, which was okay, but not what we paid for.
Then, when we returned the car, They told us that we had to pay for the cost of the rental again and then they would refund our 500!!! We went ahead and did it, we didn’t have time to argue with them as we needed to catch a flight. But NEVER AGAIN will we use...
