I usually don’t leave negative reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience because my hair was damaged as a result of this appointment.
I booked a blowout at this salon, knowing the stylist specializes in curly hair and curly cuts. Because she offered blowouts, I assumed my curls would be handled with care and properly protected—unfortunately, that was not the case.
After washing my hair, she immediately began blow-drying without detangling first. At no point during the appointment was she able to run a comb or brush through my hair successfully. Instead, she used a comb attachment on the blow dryer, aggressively ripping through my curls, which were still tangled.
I also requested a much-needed trim, as I hadn’t had one in over a year. However, instead of sectioning and carefully trimming my hair, she simply walked around me, snipping at the ends of my straightened hair with no real precision.
The assistant who helped with the flat iron repeatedly went over the same sections, clearly struggling and unsure of what she was doing. This was confirmed when the main stylist took over and thanked me for “letting her help.”
Because my hair had not been properly detangled, my ends remained knotted throughout the process. When it came time to flat iron, they simply pressed over those too. If she had just combed and properly trimmed my hair this could have been avoided. I left the salon with thick, frizzy ends, and visible knots that had just been ironed over (photo attached).
This was, without a doubt, the worst salon experience I have ever had. After washing and deep conditioning my hair at home, I can clearly see the damaged straight ends reaching 1 to 2 inches up.
If the stylist was uncomfortable or unprepared to work with my hair, I would have appreciated the honesty upfront. I would have gladly gone elsewhere rather than have my hair mishandled and...
Read moreI've been natural for about 12 years and have only been to the salon a few times, mostly for a yearly silk press and trim. My hair has been desperate need of help and I found it hard to trust someone with my curls. I'm so grateful to have come across Naya, she gained a client for life! After checking out her website and social pages, I scheduled an appointment which was seamless. Upon arrival, I enjoyed the consultation conversation about my goals and history before she got to work. She walked me through every step and allowed me to ask questions so that I could find a routine to follow once I left her salon. I felt comfortable allowing her to cut and trim as she needed to ensure I left with the look I was going for. The beautiful part was the confidence I finally had in my hair, Naya confirming it was healthy and just needed the right products and a personalized thank you card. Curly girls, take the plunge if you're looking for a comfortable place to let your curls thrive. I promise you won't be...
Read moreThis review is double because it’s for both my daughter and me! I found For the Curls Jax (Naya) because my teenage daughter needed someone to teach her how to properly care for her curls. We had tried many places before but hadn’t found the right fit. At the same time, I was considering going back to my natural curls but wasn’t sure if I was ready. A friend recommended Naya, and I’m so glad they did!
Naya was incredibly patient with my daughter, explaining everything so well that it motivated me to embrace my curls. Seeing how knowledgeable and caring Naya was, I decided to do a consultation with her about my own natural hair journey. Since letting Naya work on our hair, my daughter has learned how to properly care for and nourish her curls, and I’ve fully embraced my natural texture. My curls have come back beautifully, and this journey has been amazing. My daughters curls looked amazing.
We continue going to Naya, and we highly recommend her to anyone looking for...
