Panda House Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Jacksonville

Another case of driving past a place for 15 years and not knowing that it was there. A few days ago a neighbor told us about Panda House...we said "what?" Had to try it. Located on Gate Parkway in a small strip mall that's way to easy to pass are several small stores. The Mall contains a Cleaner, postal drop, Panda and few other stores. There is a street business sign but again it's to easy to drive by it. As you enter the parking can be limited but it's worth the effort to find a space. We called in our order and 15 minutes later entered and found a most pleasant place and owner who has been in this location for 18 years. We ordered Egg Drop soup, Hot and Sour both were extremely good and 5 ⭐ offerings. We then ordered the Pork Fried Rice... very nice and delicious 5 ⭐. I ordered the Shrimp and Scallops over veggies. Beyond being good and fresh it was also loaded with mushrooms which I enjoyed so 5 ⭐. Bill ordered the Roast Pork Egg Foo Yong. They were slightly dry and the gravy was different than the normal Brown Beef Gravy served at other places so overall that gets 4 ⭐. We look forward to our next visit and will try other selections which I am sure will be at least as...

Something to note: they have a $15 minimum for delivery I ordered the shrimp and chinese vegetables dinner combo (comes with rice and egg roll), egg drop soup, and steamed dumplings. My dinner entree was enjoyable for the price. The shrimp and vegetables were good and the rice was cooked well. The roll was crispy and had adamant filling My complaints are with the soup and dumplings. The soup was sort of bland, even when I added salt and pepper. In addition, the wonton chips that came with the soup were stale. Even the fortune cookie was so stale, it didn't break, I just had to bend it open. The dumplings were my biggest disappointment because the wrapping for the steamed dumplings was so thick, it's chewy. In addition, I hoped for a mixture of vegetables and meat in the filling but I think it was just meat.

I have NEVER left a Google Review in my entire life. However, last night, I decided to try this restaurant. Listen, I am a born and raised New Yorker. My comfort/go-to food is Americanized Chinese food.

For months I've been trying different restaurants throughout Jacksonville and nothing really satisfied my craving.

Well, guess what? I FOUND "MY" CHINESE FOOD RESTAURANT! I even thought about calling the restaurant last night to thank them. Haha!

If you're from NY or the upper east coast, you know that the consistency of the "brown sauce" is thicker. Not only was the sauce PERFECT, but the consistency of their white rice was perfect.
