I don't leave reviews often but came here for dinner for my 6 year old kids bday. The server told us multiple times they were closing early and the kitchen was closing soon. They randomly were closing an hour early. The fajitas came to the table and the whole thing smelled burnt. It was extremely burnt but i didn't want to reorder as the server seemed yo not want to even be there anymore. She did not know anything about the menu or what the pictures by the food meant or what was spicy or not. The fajitas had no flavor. The rice was cold. My.kid wouldn't eat it. The best thing that came were the french fries and noone goes.to a Mexican restaurant for french fries. The ambiance was ok. The pictures were great but it was so smokey it was hard to be comfortable. We definitely left smelling like burnt meat. We took churros to go and while we waited for the car to pick us up I decided to open the dessert up. Thank goodness I tried it before I gave it to my kid as the entire insides were completely raw. It was gross. I showed the bartender and just like the server who had no idea about anything didn't say much. Did I want another order 🤔 . No as I was told the kitchen was closing early multiple times even tho we arrive 2 hours before closing. Would I eat or recommend this to anyone Only people I wanted to play a sick joke on. There's way too many Mexican restaurants in Jax to give them another try. I leave disappointed and feel gross from any of the food I did consume. Do yourself a favor and if your I'm the mood for Mexican try your luck elsewhere.! I would leave zero stars if I could!
Replying to who replied to me from the restaurant. As someone who has been in the industry for over 20 plus years with a hospitality degree as well as a culinary arts degree I will address your excuses you gave me Do places have off nights yes. For my first time here I wish someone would've told us the kitchen was under distress. Why did you even allow new patrons to order with a kitchen at 105 degrees Health code red flags! We would've happily tried it another night if we were informed why the restaurant was closing early. We never would've ordered if we knew the kitchen was not upto heathcode standards. You did not seem to care how any of the food I spoke about came out unflavored and burnt. I've never had a fajitas plate come out and smell burnt compared to onions and peppers. Now I will address the dessert. The churros had a sticky, rubbery feel inside. Tasted and felt raw. Not once did anyone mention bavarian cream being inside the churros. Server or menu did not state this. If that was supposedly bavarian cream, we'll executed cream is just that, CREAMY. It didn't taste of bavarian cream and if it was then you have added way too much gelatin to your recipe and that would be the reason the cream was rubbery and could be picked up out of the churro like slime.
There is a way to take accountability and apologize to a guest for how a night went at your establishment. Every real review you have blamed the patron and or made excuses for bad service and mediocre food. The review posted right after mine that gave 5 stars is a fake review from something visions They work with you and make your menus. I hope you understand this review is to open the owners eyes not bash anyone. You have a cool concept and can go far if the service and food was upto par. People should not be sat nor should employees be forced to work in a place that's 105 degrees in the kitchen. You are putting people at risk to get greatly sick or injured. Put your employees and customers first before the money. That is how you will Stay in business not by forcing people to work and eat under horrible...
Read moreTheme, service, drinks, apps, all five stars. The only reason for taking one star off was for price + entrees. I had been looking forward to this taco spot opening based on location and theme alone. How unique and fun! Let’s be honest, Jacksonville didn’t really need one more taco spot, but the theme is what drew me in, and they did it well! It’s clean, hip, and fun.
I met up with Alexa to try Alien Taco a couple of weeks back - the first week Alien Taco was open. We were able to find a comfy booth upon arrival, and started with tequila shots and these pretty drinks our server recommended! Very good recommendations.
The appetizers we tried we both agreed were the highlight of the meals. We loved the guacamole app. Since this was the first week open, none of the entrees were available for order yet but all of the tacos were available to order and try. I picked 2 tacos to try, and Alexa picked 2 tacos to try, all four different. I did notice all of the taco prices were quite high. I thought okay let’s wait until they come out to try them, and then see if that helps make sense as to why individual tacos are priced so high.
In all honesty, we didn’t love the tacos. The drinks, the friendly service, the tasty appetizers, (and the fun disco bathroom) were the selling points for us. My one drink, one appetizer, two tacos, and two tequila shots added up to be a good $100 ($97 to be exact, but that does include 20% tip) That’s a lot for a taco spot if you ask me, even without putting the two shots on my tab for each of us. The cheapest taco starts at $7 plus tax.
I think this is a superb spot for families with kids, and a great pre game spot for apps and drinks. With so many taco options in Jax, I would save the entree order for another spot but again, I did visit opening week. I’m sure given more time, the tacos and entrees would hit much more. I would be willing to try either entrees or tacos later on down the line.
I want to state again just what great service we had. We had a couple of servers continuously check on us and give us recommendations; and a friendly manager come by the table to check on us as well. We never mentioned anything about the tacos because we were there to have a good time with eachother, take some pics, and catch up. It was all in all a very good time.
Please give this new local spot a try. It’s in a great location away from all of the gate parkway traffic around the TownCenter. This is closer to IKEA on the other side of...
Read moreI dined at this establishment this evening with my family to celebrate my nieces 6th birthday. You can read about our horrible experience below. I do however have a few things to add as well as tell you that before you begin to tell me your excuses, like you did her, I am in the hospitality industry. Im fact all of us are except my niece. She could have done a better job than our server however. I have been for over 20 years and the way you have "handled this situation" is shocking. You obviously have no clue when it comes to running a restaurant. You should be embarrassed of yourself. If this is alright with your boss and the owners then I can tell you'll just be another empty storefront come next year. 1- The food was ok. Some items were cold, some raw and some burnt.--- if you knew that items were going to be coming out of the kitchen sub par then you should have just closed the doors. Whatever. I can deal with mediocre food. 2- The Service or lack there of. The first things she said to us was that they are closing early tonight. I said ok we were order quickly. She came back 2 minutes later to take our order and to tell us again again that they were closing ok. ( I heard you the first time but ok) we ordered our beverages and food off of the children's menu for my niece. She then asks us to repeat our drink order because she forgot what we wanted. ( great) we tell her again what we would like to drink. She comes back to see if we can order. I ask her a couple of questions about the food. She could not answer any of them, NOT one. I had to please ask her to find out. ... Do these people go through training? How can a server have no clue about the menu they are responsible for? If this is acceptable for your FOH team I am scared to think about what is acceptable for your BOH........ after we order she asks again what would my niece like? WHAT????? we orders that already but ok let's repeat this again as I can tell the only thing that the server remembers is that she wants to leave early . 3- Your response to my sister's complaint. Do you know what hospitality is? It means treating your guests like they matter. It's about treating them well and apologizing when you have completely missed the mark, which you obviously have multiple times this evening. PS- I left a 20% tip. Was it worth 20%? NO but I know what hospitality...
