I had an extremely disappointing experience with two academic advisors at FSCJ Kent Campus, Reginald Robinson and Tamula Buck. My encounters with them were marked by disrespect, unprofessionalism, and a lack of guidance.
Reginald Robinson's behavior was particularly troubling. He showed a complete lack of respect for women and treated me with the utmost disrespect. His frustration with my questions was palpable, and what was even more distressing was that he spoke to me in a hostile tone in front of my children. This type of behavior is wholly unacceptable and goes against the principles of professionalism and respect that should be upheld by academic advisors.
Tamula Buck, unfortunately, was no better. She consistently exhibited a nasty attitude and lacked professionalism during our interactions. It is disheartening to encounter such behavior from an academic advisor whose role is to provide guidance and support to students. No student at FSCJ should have to endure this kind of treatment.
To make matters worse, when I attempted to address these issues with the college's management, I did not feel that my concerns were handled with the care they deserved. The lack of compassion only added to my disappointment with the institution. Academic institutions should take student concerns seriously and address them in a effective manner.
In addition to the disrespectful behavior of the advisors, I faced significant challenges in receiving clear guidance on my academic and career path. FSCJ misguided me into taking unnecessary courses, resulting in wasted time and resources. The absence of clear direction from academic advisors left me feeling lost about my educational goals.
This lack of guidance has had a profound impact on my academic journey. I now regret not receiving the clear guidance I needed during my time at FSCJ. I feel that I have wasted years taking unnecessary courses that do not contribute to my academic progress. This lack of instruction and guidance has left me with some courses that do not count toward my degree.
I repeatedly expressed my desire to apply for nursing schools at other institutions to the advisors. However, it was only in September 2023 that I was informed about the need for additional courses to meet the requirements. This inconsistency in advising has left me scrambling to complete the necessary courses and has jeopardized my academic goals.
In conclusion, I strongly discourage seeking assistance from Reginald Robinson and Tamula Buck at FSCJ Kent Campus. Their short tempers, lack of etiquette, and unprofessional behavior make them ill-suited for their roles as academic advisors. Furthermore, the overall lack of guidance and responsiveness from the college staff has made my experience at FSCJ deeply disappointing and disheartening.
Academic advising should aim to inform and guide students effectively, and it is crucial that the institution ensures that students receive consistent and accurate guidance to achieve their educational goals. I sincerely hope that my experience does not happen to another student, and that FSCJ takes steps to address these...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIām only a freshman Attending college at 24 for the first time in a AA program. Honestly, the school is ok, I usually attend on campus classes in the week during the evenings so based on that, itās extremely quiet, the classes are extremely small maybe 3 or 4 students including you, which kinda sucks, but Iām not really a big people person. Their is no life to the campus though, no programs, no gymnasium, no cool school events or games, the teachers are ok their teaching is very dry though, their teaching is also low vibrational, some donāt teach at all idk itās boring but educational if education had a basic generic meaning. The tuition and school fees have been taken care of so thatās good but hey Iām only attending for an AA on financial assistance so a Bachelorās would probably be more cost effective. Overall this school is a school, if u want a real college experience with higher educational standards, than a University would be the way to go. I also wish there would be more security influence like keep our CLASS DOORS LOCKED š no reason y I should be able to just walk in the school and walk right in my classes donāt need to scan my badge or anything...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf you need to speak to an academic advisor (enrolled or not) this is the last campus I would recommend going to. Every time I have gone in for assistance with something, there seems to be some sort of issue, or the advisors arenāt helpful at all. Went in on Monday and put my name on the list, after waiting almost 2 HOURS and asking one of the many workers (wish I got his name) who was sitting around what my estimated wait time was, he couldnāt find my name on the list. He could tell I was getting frustrated (like I said, always run into some issue here) so he gave me an email that was supposedly for the department I needed to get in contact with. Come to find out, he gave me a nonexistent email for the complete wrong department. Went to the advising office at south campus today and took them less than 10 minutes to give me the contact info I needed. As far as classes, there are some offered here with great professors. But generally speaking, if you look on ratemyprofessor, south campus professors typically have much higher ratings and Iāve had better luck finding ones with better...
