Update as of 7/21/22 So the last few services have been less than satisfactory, unfortunately. And just after this last experience I felt it was time to make a change. We are changing our new favorite restaurant unfortunately. Last night my husband took me out for the only thing I wanted to do for my birthday since I'm very very pregnant. We made reservations stating it was my birthday and the hostess asked as well to which we told her. Now, we've come here many many many times. To start, our service was, not good. We never had silverware we needed, we had to ask. We never got knives for the foie Gras which was the smallest portion we've ever gotten. Seriously it just shrinks and shrinks everytime and this time, it was even more expensive than before. I wouldn't care paying more due to inflation however I literally only picked Orsay again for this meal and we got 2 bites each of it. I wish I took a picture, so disappointing. The soup was great, just wish we had spoons. All I'm all the food and drinks were just not what they usually were. Unfortunately we had the server go to the table next to us most the time but felt super neglected. Then dessert, I wanted a low key birthday of just dinner, but not a none existent one. Again, I'm super pregnant, I teared up at the table because we couldn't even get a simple candle on the dessert. We've been going here for years, many birthdays and never have we had such a bad experience on a special day. I did not feel special and we decided we would just be going elsewhere for all our special days. Our last experience, was my husband's birthday, I made reservations and never got a call or text saying orsay would be closed. It said open online and there was nothing on social media till days later, etc so we went to town hall instead and had an amazing experience. The time before that, most of my meal was burnt, could be seen plain as day, not a good eating experience, we've just unfortunately have had enough the last few times. When you spend and expect to spend over $200 on a meal without even any alcohol because we don't drink anymore, you expect the good service we use to get. Now it's like we don't order alcohol and people just assume we don't tip more so neglect us or something, honestly I don't know. But we tip as if we buy alcohol because we've both worked the industry. Super disappointed. We use to love Orsay and we still do, but unfortunately thus is our experience. We have some great friends who work there, fortunately these experience excluded them, just sad because we just don't even want to go anymore.
Old review- Orsay is always absolutely amazing, the food is incredible, the service is fantastic. The drinks are exquisite. It's definitely for a nicer date night or special occasion.
It's our number one choice every date night...
Read moreI let my husband pick a restaurant each year for me to treat him to a birthday dinner. This year he selected Restaurant Orsay for his 35th birthday. I made a reservation for the earliest time available (8:45pm) on Saturday night and put in the comments that it was his birthday. We were both excited to check it out after hearing rave reviews, but overall Iâm torn on our experience. I think this is a great place to go if you want a good meal just because, but I wouldnât recommend going for a celebration.
Itâs not that we needed the red carpet rolled out for my husband, but not one person at the restaurant acknowledged his birthday. I want to note that the reservation fell on his actual birthday (1/4).
We also showed up promptly at 8:30pm but werenât seated until around 9:30pm. I give the staff credit here because all were aware how late the table was running and checked in on us constantly. We hung out at the bar until the table was ready and had a few extra rounds that we werenât planning on due to the delay.
Once we got a table, our server immediately apologized for the wait. It didnât take long to order because we were so incredibly hungry by this point.
We ended up getting charcuterie to start, followed by onion soup for each of us. My husband ordered the duck, and I ordered the beef stroganoff. Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection!! My husband ordered a red wine to accompany his dinner. There was an odd moment when an empty wine glass arrived, but it didnât get filled for a while. Our server came back around and realized he had forgotten the wine. He also said the dessert would be on him since we had such a long wait. It was a nice gesture, but I kind of assumed that dessert would have been comped anyway for my husbandâs birthday. He returned with crème brĂťlĂŠe.
The onion soup and crème brĂťlĂŠe were honestly the best weâve ever had, but I think it would have been more impactful to comp a round of drinks since we spent around $50 just waiting at the bar for a table.
Overall, 10/10 for food and 4/10 for overall experience for special occasions. I wouldnât normally be bothered by this except we saw another birthday celebration take place while we were there. I canât help but think our reservation got mixed up somehow.
Iâm sure we will go back at some point since the food was good and we live 5 minutes away, but I donât know what to make of our night. I know my husband enjoyed it, but I feel bad that it could have been any other Saturday...

Experience elegance without the pretenseâOrsay seamlessly blends French sophistication with a touch of Southern charm to create a dining experience thatâs truly exceptional.
From the moment you arrive, Orsay exudes an understated elegance. The warm and friendly service sets the tone, making you feel welcomed and valued. With plenty of parking available, itâs easy to settle in and focus on what matters most: the food.
I had the pleasure of attending a @YelpJacksonville Elite event at Orsay, and it was a night to remember. The evening began with a glamorous red carpet experience, complete with a photoshoot by @foryourentertainmentpro, which made everyone feel like a star. The vibe was electric yet relaxed, setting the stage for the culinary journey ahead.
The event kicked off with champagne and an assortment of expertly crafted hors dâoeuvres that teased the palate and hinted at the decadence to come. Once seated, we were treated to a multi-course dinner that showcased Orsayâs signature style: classic French techniques infused with bold Southern flavors.
Every bite was a testament to the skill and creativity of the chefs. From traditional bistro staples to inventive, seasonal dishes, the menu was both comforting and exciting. The champagne flowed freely, complementing the meal perfectly, and each dish was a work of art.
The ambiance at Orsay is truly unique. It manages to strike a balance between sophistication and cozinessâlike enjoying a great bottle of wine with close friends. Whether youâre celebrating a special occasion or just indulging in an extraordinary meal, Orsay delivers on all fronts.
To top it all off, the evening was a celebration of the @YelpElite community. It was inspiring to see fellow members recognized for their contributions and to connect over our shared love of great food and experiences.
Thank you, Orsay, for hosting such a spectacular night. Iâm already dreaming of my next visit! If youâre looking for a restaurant that offers exquisite food, impeccable service, and an atmosphere thatâs both elegant and inviting, Orsay should be at the top...
