Pinegrove Deli Price: $10-13 per person Pros: Amazing food, owners are fantastic and friendly, wonderful outdoor seating area. Cons: When dining in and they are busy the wait can get a little long (20-30 minutes)
Thoughts: This has to be one of my favorites places to eat lunch in Jacksonville. It is one I the few restaurants that it would say you MUST try if you are here. When I go out to eat I typically don't pick a restaurant I like, I decide what I want to eat and go to the place that makes it best. Which makes Pinegrove an anomaly because everything they make is so freakin good. Pinegrove is a meat market and deli so the quality of their meat is incredible. I can honestly say that I have never had anything that was not incredible here. A few of my favorites are the Greek Burger (lamb burger with feta cheese and tabouli),the Meatball Sub (homemade meatballs in a French Pantry baguette with tomato sauce and cheese on top, the Pinegrove Melt (smoked meats in a pita), the Stu (some of the most amazing chicken salad ever with bacon, tabouli and cheese), and the Shrimp Po Boy. It's honestly really hard to say one thing is better than another here it is all just so amazing
On top of that they have a really awesome seating area outside with covered tables. I really just can not recommend this place enough. If you are in/near Jacksonville and have never eaten here before ABSOLUTELY make a stop here. You will not be...

Our 1st visit wasnt a very good impression, but today is Small Business Saturday, so we went in to try again, this time to try the burgers everyone raves about.
We ordered 2 cheeseburgers cooked Medium, one with Kettle Chips, one with Onion Rings. For $40, we had high hopes.
The atmosphere was awkward. Community tables are fine but they are rickety as all get out. No one busses their own mess, so if it had been previously occupied, you have to move their plates out of your way and wipe the crumbs off.
The burgers arrived just as that it's-taking-too-long feeling creeps in. The bottom buns got so soggy, so fast that they were already disintegrating. The patties were thick and had so much char, bitterness was all you could taste. The meat itself was unseasoned and flavorless.
The kettle chips were okay, on the thicker side, so the ones that were overcooked weren't pleasant to eat. The onion rings tasted of raw flour with globs of uncooked batter.
I was excited to see homemade baklava in the case so I brought home a box of 4 pieces ($9). I was so disappointed to find dry dry DRY Baklava. Where's the honey???
The staff seems nice enough, so please don't take our experience as an insult.
Either everyone has low standards or we got them on another bad day. They definitely do have a big fan base, and we're glad they have such a following! We are only two who will...
Read moreWe had been hearing about this place for quite some time and finally had the opportunity to make a stop for some take-out. Upon my arrival it was clear this place is quite the spot to go for lunch as each table inside and out were filled. A line waited for seating and to order to go. The man running the register was quick and helpful this being my first time. I ordered the onion rings as my side at the suggestion of several friends saying they must batter them with "crack"! I stood to the side waiting on my order with others waiting on theirs, trying not to look too much at tables with their food. The photos posted ARE what you get! The man at the register made sure those waiting on to go orders were taken care of in a timely manner. Maybe we looked too hungrily at what the other patrons eating! Once I did get my meals, and brought home to my family, it was everything we had been told it would be. I barely saw the burgers my kids were served as they were gone in only minutes despite the size of them! The onion rings, why yes, even after taking a ride home surrounded in carryout containers, they were still crispy! If you haven't been, I strongly recommend going. Either for takeout or try finding yourself a table. It's a bit pricey,...
