I am very disappointed as I wanted to patronize this black owned business. There were so many mixed reviews.. some saying the food was bad and some saying the food was good. However, I wanted to see for my self especially because the atmosphere seemed very welcoming… from the pictures. I was sadly mistaken!
As I approached the door there were two young ladies in flip flops and leggings. Okay that’s fine. However as I stepped inside the hostess was sitting down and did not greet us.. the first thing she said was, “do you have a reservation?” No we don’t.. we didn’t know we needed one. It also doesn’t say anywhere on your non functioning website or Social Media(Instagram) that you only do reservations. Just because you put a link in your bio for reservations does not mean reservations only, nor does it say that! There are several restaurants where you can make a reservation but also walk-in but these same restaurants that I speak of also say reservation only if that’s the case! As we were departing the two young ladies who did not have a reservation were able to be seated because they “knew” someone.
I say all of that to say this.. Great customer service goes a long way. Your hostess should be standing and if she isn’t standing she should stand and greet the customer with a smile as they come in…regardless of reservations, regardless of if you guys are packed, regardless of how relaxed the atmosphere is! Also, you don’t have the clientele to say reservations only, with people walking in flip flops and looking disheveled. It seems as though it’s a “who you know” situation to be able to be served. The owner(s) of the establishment may not care that they lost me as a customer, but what’s sad is this is a new restaurant in a spot that can’t keep anything there and this is how you treat people in the community. My best friend and I ended up going across town spending our money at a chain restaurant where the money could have been spent in our own community. I hope this reviews helps patrons as well as the restaurant but I will...
Read moreWe arrived and took a seat at the bar. The bartender eventually came over and asked if it was our first time there—we said yes. She then asked if we were there for happy hour, and we confirmed. Despite it being happy hour, the place was surprisingly quiet—maybe 15–25% full at most. She walked us through the menu and explained the happy hour specials, which included: $.99 wings, $5 margaritas, $4 Reposado shots, $5 lemon drops, $5 sidecars, an $8 burger with fries, and $8 salmon bites. However, when we received the bill, we noticed that everything had been charged at full price.
When placing our order, one of the items required selecting a side. There was another staff member behind the bar who clearly seemed uninterested in being there. When our food finally arrived, we weren’t given any silverware and had to ask for it. Two of our items came out first, and we had to wait an additional 20–30 minutes for the rest of our order. After we finished eating, we requested the check, which took another 25 minutes to arrive. At that point, we had to move our plates to the end of the bar ourselves just so they wouldn’t sit in front of us.
Once we noticed the error we did call and spoke to manager asked for a receipt and walked through the receipt with the manager on the phone about what times we ordered and still was given an oh well. The bar tender shouldn’t have told you that. What manager says that.
The manager did not rectify it but rather wanted to pick apart times of when we ordered which was inside the 5-7 “Happy Hour” time frame. Sir our order went in before 7 pm. To me that’s false advertising and should go to the Better Business Bureau. Instances such as these make you not want to spend money at a black owned business because of the lack of accountability.
In the end, a clear mistake was made with the pricing, and instead of correcting it, we were met with a dismissive attitude. A professional establishment would have taken responsibility and made it right, rather than offering an...
Read moreThey want to desperately act like a high-end establishment but they don't know if they are a club, a bar, a kava lounge, a restaurant, a sports bar, a lounge, or whatnot. They are in a strip mall with a bunch of run-down businesses. They check your ID,(you must have an ID to get in!) pat you down check your bag, and give you a wristband as if you are going into a club, everything is extremely overpriced and the service is the absolute worst. They have three girls on the floor who are extremely unorganized and two bar girls. This is on management for lack of training and needed staff, they had our party at two separate half-round tables while all other party groups were at 2 double tables set up. They come out with huge sparklers and signs waving them in the air right next to their dropped ceiling just waiting for a fire to start. As if we were at a wrestling match. T.Vs on the wall like a sports bar with sports and news playing but you can't watch them because of the half-moon tables we were at. Also didn't see any closed captions. They have no salt. Or pepper shakers only little packets, no flatware just plastic forks & knives in a bag with the pack of salt and pepper. We waited 35 min for our check that never came and 45+ min for the drink orders we put in because our server was not around because thats when I guess they were busy waving sparklers, and signs around. Ended up having to get up and walk over to the bar to ask for our check so we could leave. And asked for our server to go to the rest of our party to help with checks and drink orders that we had put in. Just never going back, would never recommend this place especially not for any special event. Just stay far away...
