I would give this place a 0 if I could. I took my daughter here for her 11th Birthday because it was very close to home and I have been there for eyebrow wax & pedi's. This was her 1st time getting her nails done and she was very excitied as she loves the art aspect of nails. She showed the man a picture of what she wanted. He quoted her a price. As a licensed cosmetologist I am aware of sanatation guidlines that are there to control the spread of infectious disease. He did not know I was also licenced which I dont tell. I just watch. I am also aware of how to treat your guests of all ages! His station had nail clippings from the prior customer (against FL sanatation guidelines of course) . Tools were not sanitized or wrapped and sanation solution looked old and dirty with debris. Your work station should not look that way and im sure if a state inspector came in he would have failed. I Noticed this only after I had to go to his station because, I could hear him not listiening to what she was saying and heard aggervation in his voice. Might I add she chose to spend her Birthday money on this and was excited. We showed the man the picture at least 3 times. As other customers walked in He continued to rush and not listen to her request at all. A simple jewel design on 2 nails. He wasnt even going to put them on until he was reminded. Did he not look at the picture as an example of what she wanted? He said, "now I have to take it off why you not tell me?" Your blamming your 11 year old customer because you arnt listiening to what she requested and was paying for. Thats when I as her mom had to go to his station and remind him that we showed you the picture when we came in. We showed him the picture at least 3 times total during our visit. Then again he said, "that be more money" for the 2nd time. I wasnt mad about that to much but if he would have listiend to what she was asking for there would have not been any confusion as to what she wanted or the price. As other customers were walking in he began to rush even more as if she wasnt a paying customer as they were. When we got home she was complaining of all the glue hurting that was around her nails and on her skin. I had to cut and file it off. All around terrible experience. I will never spend my money here again or never never take my daughter in this place. The guy was rough and he treated his 11 year old guests terrible. He did not have 1 kind thing to say the whole time my daughter was in the chair. All around terrible experience for her as her 1st time getting her nails done and on her birthday! He was aware of it being her birthday as I told him. If that was my client I would at least say happy birthday and made them feel as special as possible as I do for all my clients birthday or not. I didnt want to even pay for the service but didnt cause a fuss. Did I tip? Absolutely not. The cost of the whole service...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAt this point of time in my life, I have definitely tried to make sure that I stay healthy and give people the benefit of the doubt at this time. I told myself that going to these nail chop shops isnāt worth the time or the money anymore. I have been going to get my nails done since I was nine. Iāve had great experiences and Iāve had bad experiences Today. I decided that I will no longer be participating in Providing business to the shops, I just came in for something simple. I got a takeoff from a jail set that I had on for the last 3 1/2 weeks. none of these shops that Iāve ever been through across Jacksonville clean any of their utensils before they use them. OK I get it. The shop wasnāt busy at all. There was only one person in the building getting a pedicure and then me so I would think service would be quick and accurate, but needless to say the sanitation is never a priority at any time for these shops actually started to take off my nails. I realize that she was not doing the proper process of taking off my nails, which is a soak off. The nails hadnāt lifted for the point for her to take another nail and pop my nails off in this process that she chose to take Pulled more of my nail off then they were supposed to be taken off as Iām squirming in the chair and getting frustrated as I keep asking her to soak it off Because itās hurting as sheās pressing the nail underneath mine in the gel and she refuses to understand that It would just be better to soak it off and then file there is no rush for her to take off my nails in this manner because the business was slow. The service was $10 of pain And no consideration or accuracy I didnāt even receive any oil on my nails for the trauma that she has given me. I would no longer continue to participate in do use businesses with the lack of respect for individuals who just want a service done properly. I just asked one simple thing, and the fact that that one simple act could not be fulfilled, even though that is part of their job description has showed me that I no longer need to be a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have read the other reviews and I have NEVER EVER had a bad experience with New York Nails on Parental Home Rd. I have been going there at least 18 years. The original staff had changed but they are related to the original owner. The staff always speak to the next person who comes through the door. Always polite and work quickly.
The man who does the pedicures recently came to the U.S. He is the father of the 2 female techs. He sent his wife and daughters to America for an education and stayed in Vietnam to support them (except for vacations, they didn't get to see him aover the last decade. Both girls are in college working on degrees and doing very well and work full-time at the same time. I think they are an amazing family.
The shop is very clean and the staff is very professional. They remember most of their customers names and always ask about how our family is doing.
I am sorry that some of you had a bad experience. The "paper between the toes" story doesn't seem to fit this location. Never used paper on me, nor have I ever seen...
