Once Upon A Child Mandarin, FL — Local services in Jacksonville

I brought in 2 big garbage bags full of boys and girls clothes and shoes. I was advised it would take 20 minutes. I usually take my items to the store in Orange park but was on this side of town today. The staff is extremely rude. One of the woman i said hi how are you and she was stuffing her face with food when she slide the book to me and said here sign in. Didn't ask for my I'D or give me a store coupon like the one in Orange park does. I then started to walk around to look around in the store which is extreamly cramped and hard to shop in and within 5 minutes my items were placed at the front door. I walked to the counter and ask one of the other woman. Was my items done already she said yes. I said really that fast? She said yes and offered me $2.50 for a shirt and 2 pairs of shorts. I said to the woman so you guys are passing on basically all the items she said yes. I started to walk to the door to grab my items and pulled out of the bag a very nice pair of name brand Capri pants and asked one of the woman was she the one who looked through the bags and she said yes. I held up the pair of capris and asked her why she would pass on these new named brand capris out of curiosity she said yes there nice but in that size we are over crowded. I know that was not true as I was shopping in that section size 6 for my daughter why I was waiting . So I then said to her that you looked threw those bags very quickly and she ignored me and I left. Everytime I go to the store on blanding they always take at least a hour notive to look threw thw items and I see the girls literally look at each piece of clothing not to mention they always check and ask for my I'D and give me a bin to place it in and when I go back for the items they have them behind the counter and have it ready to go separated for the items they will be taking and what they will not be taking and they even break it down as to why they passed on the items and what they would like to buy from me and give me a price. I think that store off San Jose needs to be better trained with how to operate the store and how to handle customers and there items and be more professional. They could really use training on how to run that business from how they do it on blanding. I will never go back to this store ever again. Very disappointed in my service today I received not to mention how rude the woman was eating her food and not even greeting me. Very unprofessional. Very. Looking at all the neagtive reviews it spunds like it wpuld be a complete waste of time to co tact the ow er to complain. And apparently I'm not the only one who has encountered terrible customer service from this location with them not greeting you and having a picnic lunch I front of you instead of taking care of customers. The clothes they sell here are in terrible condition. And way over priced. Run away do not shop at this location go to the one in Orange park they will take care of you the right way. Like customers should be...

I recently just left this store. And let me just say that I have been coming here since my son was born. And he's 18months now. I have loved this store and love coming to get things on sale as is. But today, I have brought in a few things and wanted to get credit for them. And a few things was turned down because of reasons I can understand. Like the baby swing needed to be cleaned before turning in. Which I get because it has just collected dust. But I had a bathtub and a bassinet. The lady said they don't sell bathtubs. Which is a lie because I have bought my son his first bathtub here. And also, she said the bassinet they couldnt take because of a stain that you can barely see was under the cloth part where the baby lies down on. Other than that she would take it. And said that they can only take things that are like brand new. Now, I have bought clothes that when I have came home would have holes on the bottom. Or bought things and pieces were missing but I wouldnt mind because it is a used store..I understand that. it's okay. But to know that I was being lied to and turned down for my items that are in good shape is something I will never understand. So, I bought this toy that I had my eyes on since yesterday for my son and being she was being picky and said they only take things that are like brand new. I proceeded to inspect the toy. Because I knew it would have something wrong with it which it did...The toy not only had loose screws it had missing pieces. shapes that go with it and something is missing on one of the sides like another door, maybe..But it's obvious to noticed once got home...I did notice the toy being loose at the store and said something and made sure that she knew because you know, They only take things like brand new.

I love this store but today I got to have a a difference experience and dont think it was handled the way it should have been. And if they are going to say those things about what they take in then they should stick to it. Hope this reaches the right person and this store does better. Because as I have said I love this store but today...

Very much do not recommend this location at all. Ever since the old owner has sold the store, it seems to have gone into a complete downwards spiral. The store has become so chaotic & the staff doesn’t seem to have a clue as to what it is they should be doing. Every time I used to come in I would see customers happy with their experience, now when I come in, all I see and hear is customers complaining about line waits, or how messy the actual store itself is now, or how overcrowded/unorganized & dirty the clothes look now. I have been coming here since 2021 and I see all new staff all of a sudden with these new owners. I wonder what it’s going to be like in the upcoming months, if it’s already this bad… maybe they should have kept the old employees. Or the old owner should have found different owners to sell the franchise to. I will no longer be recommending to friends and family to sell or buy their stuff here. With how it’s looking now & I’d say for the past few weeks, this place won’t be in business much longer and if it is it won’t be a good one. Such a shame to see such a wonderful and enjoyable location turn into the worst of the worst. I honestly will say from what I have heard from some of the employees that I no longer see, the new owners did not want the old employees there any more, I’m just hoping that it was the people themselves who decided to leave… and hoping it wasn’t that they lost their jobs at the expense of simply getting new owners. A lot of the employees I no longer see, I have seen for at least 1 year give or take depending on the employee. And they all seemed happy to be there or needed to be there to provide for their families. I really wish the people who once made this once upon a child, one of the best locations to shop at, are doing well, and working in a environment where they’re well deserved, because this new once upon a child, wouldn’t be very deserving of these few...
