I love being treated like a criminal for simply shopping. They have more security than a bank. For a Home Depot in a decent part of town this is just insane overkill.
All of the tools are separated out into a little mini store in the center of the actual store. You have to pay for them in this little tool area before you can leave to shop for other things. I had 6-7 employees watching everything I did at all times, not asking if I needed anything just keeping an eye on me. I had my receipt checked 2 times before I was allowed to leave. If you guys are this worried about theft why did you open a store. The employees at the self checkout didn’t ask if I needed help, just took the cart and rang everything up. I waited patiently for 45 minutes while staff attended to another customer, only to watch them seamlessly shift to yet another without so much as a glance my way. The area wasn't busy at all, which made their complete oversight of my presence all the more baffling—no acknowledgment, no apology. Frustrated, I ended up leaving empty-handed. I'd love to return if better training on customer engagement is...
