I was looking through uber eats today and ran across Donatos Pizza first I was thinking this was dominoes changing their name like some places are to fool people.
To my surprise and satisfaction it was not. I placed an order for a small thin crust with the works, Fresh Stuffed Jalapenos and Cheryls brownie.
The thin crust pizza is the best thin crust i've ever had. instead of trying to place a pizza on a cracker it's actual pizza dough which has held up nicely and even reheated is as good as when I got it. Unlick most thin crusts especially with 5 toppings it should have been a soggy mess from the word go. I highly recommend giving this crust a try.
The fresh Jalapenos where exactly that. They take a fresh raw jalapeno cut it in half and stuff it with cheese and bacon served raw, cheese probably melted with a torch not an oven or stove (realized after reheating them that they had been raw), no breading or frying served with ranch. Not bad but personally I'd like to see more bacon with this maybe wrapped in bacon instead of bacon bits. It's a tad bland. Reheats ok but looses something since its now a cooked jalapeno instead of a raw or lightly heated one
Cheryl's brownie. Can't comment sadly as it wasn't included in my order hence the 4 star review instead of 5.
All in all though this is definitely on my list of regular pizza orders from now on. and pricing is pretty decent whole thing with ubers markups came to around 23 and there's definitely 2 meals at least here possibly 3 if you...
Read more"Meh." The Donatos on Beach Blvd produces better pizza. I had hopes because the Old Saint Augustine Rd location is closer. It's a new crew. Perhaps they'll learn to turn out pies like the place on Beach Blvd.
If you're after a, "crispy thin crust"... they didn't give me one at the Mandarin Donatos. Go to the Beach Blvd location or a Mandarin Papa John's or Dominos... or plan on putting yours into the oven or toaster oven at home.
Meatball "sub"... "Never again." I grew up on Meatball GRINDERS in New England. Publix has a better (and larger) Meatball sub for about the same price as Donatos offering. Hell...even Firehouse and Subway's meatball subs are better so... that speaks volumes about Donatos Meatball sub.
The BEST meatball grinders I've found in Jax are at Carmine's Pie House in Riverside and Picasso's in Mandarin. (At least...their sauces and meatballs are good, and they KNOW how to crisp up that bread crust New England style.)
I'll probably give the pie another try in a month or so to see if it's improved. I'm a, "Two strikes and you're out...
Read moreOrdered a calzone and traditional wings - hot. The calzone size was ok but the dough was not that tasty. The ingredients I added were pepperoni and the homemade sausage which tasted really good but they didn’t add that much cheese to it. The sauce tasted like it came right from a can, needs some spicing up and I’m not just meaning spicy hot, just some herbs or something. The hot wings were not that large in size, guess I’m spoiled on the hut’s wings. The hot was too spicy got me but I have to admit most other places it is as well, I should have ordered mild. I had to wash off the hot sauce then I could eat them. I liked them but was not satisfied with the size. The staff is very friendly and even though I ordered pick up, the place looked like a very laid back casual place to dine in. They have a big screen tv to...
