I love this gym, but ABC Financial, the people behind the scenes are a freaking joke. I moved out of state and wanted to see what my options were with either cancelling or transferring. After mentioning these two options to the rep she quickly let me know I had another option to freeze the account and the amount of time the account was frozen would just be added on to the end of my time I had signed the contract for. I didn't really want to cancel because I wanted to continue having a gym membership, so this worked out perfectly. She told me what I needed to do once I had the proper documents to prove I had moved and that was it. I called again a few weeks later just to make sure I had the right documents and the next lady told me I did. I even explained the situation again to make sure this freeze thing was legit, she told me it was. Well with freezing you have to continue to pay until the actual freezing takes place, made sense to me. I was short on money because of the move and I hadn't found a new job yet, so I had called to push my payment, which I knew I could do because I had to do it once before. The guy I talked to told me that he could push my payment out 10 days from the usual date and I said that was fine. He also informed me that I was not eligible for freezing my account.. wtf. He explained to me that moving was only something that counted towards transferring or cancelling if the conditions of the contract were right. I asked if he knew which gyms I could transfer to and he went on this long rant about how there were no onslow fitness gyms in my area so I would definitely be able to cancel...I tried to explain to him that onslow was the county I lived in before so I knew there weren't any here, but there were supposed to be some in my area that I could transfer to that were backed by abc financial...he didn't understand. Well I was pissed with that, but I got over it. I let a supervisor know what happened and that they really needed to better inform their reps before letting them be on the phones.. I've worked in a call center, I know how it goes. That was a while ago and today I look at my bank account... I had TWO payments drafted from ABC, one on the original date and one on the date that the payment was supposed to be pushed to. I was LIVID. I call back ask to speak to a supervisor again, a rep was trying to go over everything that I already knew about all of the conversations I'd had with the other reps, ended up being rude to her, which I apologized for because it wasn't her fault but I needed to speak to a manager. Now I'm waiting for a sup to call me back anytime between now and monday to settle all of this.
tl;dr Onslow fitness is amazing. ABC financial sucks. If you are not planning to be in onslow for your entire contract, do not sign it. If you need to talk to a rep of the company.. good luck because they are all a bunch of morons that literally know nothing about the company they represent. They would have 5 stars if ABC didn't...
Read moreJust like many others have said, it is a good place to work out and even better because of childcare, although it should be cleaner. On many occasions I could not even use their facility because my kids were frequently sick after bringing them there. The staff is friendly but of course they are there for you to show support and encouragement as long as you pay them. Our 12 month contract ended during the closures of COVID-19. Prior to the closures we went in to cancel our membership. The lady whom we spoke to said we could pay off the rest of the contract or let it run out, turn in our key cards, and that would that. We had a month or 2 left so we decided to let it run out. After the gyms opened up again we tried to return the key cards. They said they don’t do that anymore and we could discard ourselves but we need to give a written 30 day notice (as their policy states) to an email. Which we then did. But of course they still charge us.
To make it worse I was told by management that the CEO Was possibly the one who gave us the initial info. Does this sound right to you? Why give inaccurate information or even hide information? Where is the customer service and support that is promised by this business? A friendly reminder of policies is always appreciated by customers especially when someone is clearly trying to cancel their membership.
Although we as customers sign their papers, how is this situation okay? It is very disappointing that employees of a business will disregard the voice of their “customers” while they continue to give Misinformation and try to hide it from their customers.
So again, like many it’s a good gym. And like the other side, I feel almost taken advantage of or even lied to. They could not even get their policy straight amongst each other because it changes when they decide.
I hope this review helps others to just be aware of the details. This facility puts a bad name to local businesses In promising customer service, individualized service, and better support as compared to larger...
Read moreHello,
My name is Marc Daigle and I have an issue that I believe Customer Care can assist me with …
I had a membership at Onslow Fitness in Jacksonville NC. and enjoyed it for quite some time … I actually started there under my parents family membership years ago, and when I could no longer be under theirs I got my own…
Well about a year ago my job took me to Virginia and away from the gym in Jacksonville… I notified the gym that I had to move out of state due to work and they did not seem to care .. They jumped to sign me up years ago and had me in the system in like 15 min ready to work out with 24hr access, but canceling seemed to be of no priority to them …
I notified them a second time and even asked if they could just transfer my membership to another family member and not cancel .. They were of no help ... I then asked them if they could just put a hold on my membership while I was in VA.. and then I would resume upon my return to Jacksonville.. Again they were no help … and continued to charging me for a membership I could not use from 6 hours away …
Now they have charged me over $500 in membership that was impossible for me to use … You can pull their record which tracks each time a member swipes in to the gym… I was charged for services I did not and could not use … after multiple attempts to work something out with them…
I had to cancel my credit card to get them to stop drafting payment Not once did they tell me how to cancel .. I don’t have Email so I am using my dads account to send this to you …
This is an awesome Jacksonville gym with the best physical fitness, weight loss programs and personal trainers in Jacksonville, NC. But with the worst customer service when an issue like mine presents itself… Please assist as this is bad business on their part … I plan to report the local Chamber of Commerce and Better Business Bureau
Thank...
