I have gone to this restaurant since the first day they opened. It became my favorite oriental restaurant in Jacksonville, NC. But it's not the same since new ownership around 2019.
The food selection is good. And the price is reasonable. In general, the food seems more bland, frequently over cooked and overall, not as good as it use to be.
My favorite was the jalapeno chicken. It use to have real jalapeno peppers and the chicken did NOT have a heavy sweet coating on it. It was delicious!!! Now the jalapenos have been replaced with bottled hot pepper flakes and the chicken has a sweet coating on it. NOTHING like it use to be.
My second favorite was the Korean Barbeque dish (not sure of the proper name)...basically onions, chicken, green peppers with a smokey flavoring. Use to be crisp fresh like texture. Now it's sort of a gooey concoction that is nothing like it use to be.
I use to eat at this restaurant 3 to 5 times a week sometime between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM Monday thru Friday. Now I eat here about once or twice a month at most.
Too many times I have gone in there and found several empty trays on the buffet and they are never refilled while I am in there. Some of the other trays are almost empty, with the remaining small quantity of food mounded into a small pile in the center of the tray.
Several times I have been disturbed by oriental male workers talking loudly at each other in the customer area...sometimes with significant distance between them.
The sushi use to be really fresh and delicious. It too is NOT as good as it use to be in my opinion. They also seem to be a bit reluctant to put out the good sushi very often. Seems to be more of the California roll type of sushi now.
Overall, I'd say this is an ok restaurant if you want quantity and reasonable quality. It just isn't what it use to be. But I will continue to go there with the hopes that the restaurant will go back to its...
Read moreI'm not one to ever complain to the point that I take the time to write a review, but here I am.
I places my order at 7 pm on Thursday, online. Through the online you are asked for a contact number and email. I was prompted at the end with my order number, and told to wait 20 to 30 minutes before arriving. It being 8 pm on a Thursday I wait 45 minutes to give them time to prepare and bag my order.
I arrive at 7:36 walk in, give my order number, confirm my last name, and I pay. After my payment went through, I was told they were out of the two sushi rolls I ordered, and asked if I'd like anything else to replace it. This is after I've been charged, and 45 minutes of them having my order, and all contact info mind you.
I confirm there Is nothing else I want to substitute for, thinking I will have the rest of my order in hand, since again, I put my order in 45 minutes prior. I'm told it'll be about 10 minutes.its now 7:39 pm . 20 minutes later, my food finally comes out.
The place wasn't busy, two cooks eating in the side room, a server sitting at a table eating, and the cashier was sitting on his phone when I walked in.
Upon getting my food I asked if my card will be reimbursed, I'm assured it is. Seeings how it is pending on my account, I surely hope they do adjust the price. The food was okay, and hot. But why do they have the online options to order, ask for info to contact you incase of changes, if they aren't going to cook the food when I put it in? First time trying it, and ill never go back and will never speak a decent word of this place.
I also will point out im taking a risk eating the food, with a 90.1 health score as of August 9th.
EDIT: 12 hours later, my card was updated to charge the 3 dollar tip I left on the Togo order, charged full price for the sushi I never got, I truly hope for their sake this is corrected when I...
Read moreI have been here multiple times, and I have a great experience every time. Tons of food choices are both Asian and American and sushi. Simple beers list and bottles of water, juice, and soda. I'm super picky at Chinese restaurants and typically have found it hard to satisfy my big 3 favorite items. General tsao, egg rolls, crab ragoon. This restaurant has all 3 that are actually good simultaneously, which seems hard to find as most places leave something to be desired for at least 1 above-mentioned items. Desert cakes seem randomly flavored throughout the week, but if you are lucky enough to arrive on a day they are serving the coffee/mocha chocolate flavor, I'd highly recommend you try it. Service is attentive enough to keep the refills rolling and quick to remove old dishes left at the edge of the table. But it's not annoying and hovering, so I gladly tip well here. Parking is never a problem as it's in a strip mall, and if you have kids, the trampoline park next door is also pretty awesome. The price is about 20.00 per person but, in my opinion it is worth it for the quality of food. The cashier lady is always smiling and close by, which helps reduce time waiting in line to be seated or pay. Bathrooms have hot water for easy cleanup also. Solid joint 👌 for a simple date for the picky or a large family or group. Also, they sell buffet items by weight if you absolutely want to take stuff home for a friend or family member who couldn't make it out with you. Around 10.00 per...
