Stopped by to pick up some leather working needles, however they were out of stock! Hobby Lobby is a really great place for anyone who is a crafter! They have a plethora of various crafting supplies! Far to many to mention! As I normally order from Crazy Crow for supplies I utilize for all of my Native American crafting needs (this is a place where quite a few people go to when either crafting their dance costumes (whether fancy dancers, part of the drumming circle or slow dancing for the women) as these artists and crafter perform at the various pow wows. And yes, as a far younger man back far to many decades ago, I feel as if was a dream, I too was one of those fancy dancers and performing at various pow wows, even traveling to pow wows all over the country! BUT that was a very long time ago, in another time and a much younger man ,heck not quite a man but a 13 year old when I started out as joining the drumming circle. I mean how is a person suppose to not only understand what you are dancing for but also knowing the nuances of the song being sung, feeling as if you are back in time and dancing with our ancestors, before our people were forced to move onto land that the white man did not want, the reservations where some of our ancestors were not permitted to perform certain dances like the Eagle dance or the Sun dance. But I digress, being a part of a pow wow, is not only a gathering where we can gather, not only as strangers but also recognizing that no matter what tribe each person is, we realize that the other individuals we come in contact with are our Aunts, Uncles, or Cousins. Well, at least this was and even now a days when I attend pow wows, I still see things. I find that even though my only blood relative still alive is my son and my remaining family is my son, his wife and my grandson. When I attend a pow wow, I am reminded that I have a much larger family! I have hobbled (I say this as I have some mobility issues now and I have a distinctive limp, even when I utilize my cane) I can visit the different vendors and if they notice I need to sit, I am always treated with respect and like family as someone will stand up and have me sit down so I can rest my weary body. Yes, like my last name, I have become grey around the muzzle. Still, as I feel the sun's warmth on my skin, I also am reminded, I am not alone, I am seen, I am valued as a person, I am blessed as the Great Spirit allows me to see all of the miracles which He performs every single day! Did you know that there is never the exact same sunrise or sunsets each day! Also no sunrise or sunset is ever repeated! Can you not see that is a miracle! Also, none of us are guaranteed tomorrow! And when each and everyone of us awakens to a new day, that is also a miracle! Also if each of us complete our day and lay our weary heads down to rest for the night, that is another miracle! Even when we eat or drink (no matter what food or drink) those are miracles! Hearing the laughter of children, feeling the love and returning our love for our pets.....yes a miracle. Even seeing flowers bloom and witnessing all of the majestics of nature... Miracles.
I apologize, I got way off topic. This was not suppose to be a discussion of history, philosophy nor my personal beliefs.
But I will tell you this, even stopping only to discovering that Hobby Lobby is out of stock of leather needles, can bring about remembering one's past, remembering what one may consider far better times, but actually one is just remembering pleasant or good memories and not remembering any of the strife, or various negative type of things which occurred which effected either our personal lives or even greater issues which effected the world at large. That is yet another miracle, as we are able to focus on the goodness of the past, which we consider far better times of old or "the golden years". When in truth, for those of us who will still be alive in 10, 20 or even 30 years from now, they will see these days we are living in currently as "the...
Read moreForgiveness of sins and justification are good news because they remove obstacles to the only lasting, all-satisfying source of joy: Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is not merely the means of our rescue from damnation; he is the goal of our salvation. If he is not satisfying to be with, there is no salvation. He is not merely the rope that pulls us from the threatening waves; he is the solid beach under our feet, and the air in our lungs, and the beat of our heart, and the warm sun on our skin, and the song in our ears, and the arms of our beloved.” ~ John Piper
I for one am beyond stoked that you are asking this question. There truly is no more colossal of an inquiry that you could ever make.
What is the Gospel? The Gospel begins with God. He is all that is perfect and lovely, holy and flawless. He alone is eternal, omnipotent, infinite, omniscient, immortal, and omnipresent. All that He loves is righteous. That which He despises is sin.
In rebellion against this holy One mankind revolted, thinking, doing, and speaking that which shamed God. All of humanity – from the aged to the infant, the religious to the rebel – have sinned and brought displeasure to the eternal Sovereign. Consequently, this transgression has cut us off from God, isolating us from the communion with Him that we desperately need. We are condemned justly and sentenced, under His wrath, to eternal destruction. Such is the plight of every man, woman, teen, and child.
However, God, the Just King, is abundantly rich in mercy. To reconcile sinful creatures to Himself, He sent His eternal Son, Jesus Christ, who is also God, into this world. Jesus became a man, lived without any trespass, and died a brutal death by crucifixion in order to pay the penalty for the sins of all who will be saved. Three days following His death, Jesus physically rose from the dead, conquering death, sin, and hell for us, and now offers us liberation from and forgiveness of sin in exchange for His perfection. Your responsibility, my friend, is to turn from your selfishness (the Bible calls this repentance) and to take hold of the gift of grace through trust in the Person and work of Jesus for you.
The Bible makes it clear that we are justified not by our works, not by our efforts, not by our deeds, but by faith – and by faith alone. The only way you can receive the benefit of Christ’s life and death is by putting your trust in Him – and in Him alone. Through that faith, by His grace, through the work of Jesus you are declared just by God, you are adopted into His family, you are forgiven of all of your sins, and you have begun your pilgrimage...
