$6.00. Jasper Drug Store just lost a customer over $6.00. I had been getting my child’s ADHD medication filled there for the past several months and while I was there, I would shop and also shop in the cute little surrounding shops. So the day before I was to pick up the prescription, I called to make sure it would be ready and was told over the phone that they had it in stock and was assured it would be ready for pickup that following morning. When I arrived to get it, I was told it wasn’t ready and it would be about 15 minutes and asked could I wait? I told her I was meeting a friend for lunch and would stop back by a little later. When I went back to pick it up, the older lady said they didn’t have it and would not be able to get it. So I explained that I that I had called the day before and was told they had it in stock, I asked what happened to that? After I kept pressing for answers she finally told me that they were losing money on this prescription and even with my insurance payment and my co-payment, they were still losing money. And as a small business they couldn’t afford to fill the prescription. I explained to her my child is at The University of GA and was in the middle of final exams along with having three projects to be completed in the next few days. I said I am desperately needing this medication because without it they will “crash” and not be able to function for the next four to five days. I told her if they had let me know when they received the order, I would have had time to make other arrangements. I said how much money are we talking? I will gladly pay you the difference. She said $6. Then explained that they could not ask me to make up the difference because that would be insurance fraud. This is a whole new level of terrible...
