The Carriage House Restaurant — Restaurant in Jasper

The Carriage House restaurant in historic downtown Jasper, Georgia is a wonderful place to have not only a great meal at a reasonable price, but where the friendly small-town atmosphere is reflected in the owners and the people who work there.

Carriage House is normally a breakfast and lunch place with well-executed, creative and delicious food. I have met the chef and the owner and they both truly care about giving patrons a quality experience. This is not just any coffee shop, but a restaurant in the best sense.

Recently my wife and I took part in the special Valentine's Day dinner in 2020. We made reservations weeks in advance anticipating what Carriage House would do for dinner and we were overwhelmed. We walked in and the space had been transformed into a big-city restaurant with black-and-white cloth tabletop linens, cloth napkins, and candlelight. Extra staff were on hand to serve us. The steak with it's custom sauce, mashed potatoes from scratch and Brussels Sprouts with roasted red peppers were fantastic. It was the best dinner that we have had in a long while and we only had to drive twenty minutes from our house, not 30-60 minutes south to the big city.

Been going here for over 5 years. Drive 20 miles from Canton, GA and eat same breakfast every time. It’s great. I also will be in there anywhere from 2-3 hours doing some work, drinking some coffee, etc.. Always tip waitress heavily and watch how busy it is. I’ll leave if I think I’m taking a table. Told today that ‘the boss’ (I’m not kidding) called down (down from where? This isn’t NYC??) and said to tell me I have to pay ) $25 after two hours from now on. Ok. I tipped 40% for my stay and bill and left. The tone of the message felt personal. Really scratching my head. I think the staff has too much time to gossip and reminisce and my 55 year old butt just taking care of some business wired em’ up even though 2/3 of restaurant was empty. The amount of food I received was pitiful to say the least . My wife could prepare a meal better . Another thing to watch an owner and groups stare at a family of color and make them feel uncomfortable enough to leave is so disrespectful and shows what’s going on in America today .
