This is definitely on the more expensive side for Mexican options for the area, which would not be a bad thing if the food were to match it. Unfortunately for our first visit the food definitely did not match the expectations or reviews seen prior. It was a slow rainy night so the staff were not over worked, our server was fairly nice and can’t say she was an issue. She could have been a bit more attentive but honestly with the fact that we found hair in the food right off the bat (short black hair that didn’t match us or the waitress in any way. She did apologize but made no attempt to take food back and our little guy refused to eat it after. My son ordered Hawaiian rice dish and promptly sent it back kindly as soon as it came because of look and smell of dish. The enchiladas he got in its place was better but there were some issues there as well. My chimichangas which is an easy go to dish when trying different Mexican venues for comparison were much to be desired. The shredded chicken was dry and it was doused in cheese (which normally not huge complaints except it was very bland). I was a bit worried about sending back for fear of wrath from kitchen as we had already dealt with hair and the other food. I just ate what I could let it ride. Instead of just letting in ride and leaving a bad review without further investigation I flagged our server down and spoke at length about tonight’s events. This place has had a fairly good reviews consistently that did not match our experience tonight. She explained that staff in kitchen is new and that’s part of the issue. Management was aware of of our situation but never checked in. Which is uncommon in most restaurants. We were not rude, we were calm and as mentioned above server was nice and she got appropriate 20%. In most cases based on our conversation with server I would likely try this place again one more time, however in further thought as I realize management was aware but never attempted to check in… as much as I feel for the server… I don’t think it would really be in our best interest to do so. It’s a shame but there are too many other better options in town when it...
Read moreUpdate: extremely disappointed First off- Why do you keep the lights now? I wasnt even sure you were open. And no one even acted like they wanted my party there. If the guy up front is a manager, quick looking at your phone and say hi. When I managed a food joint I never had my phone out nor would my staff.
Secondly- Worst chips I have ever eaten. Seriously. Check out my review from 2 years ago below- i use to love this place. What happened? I tried to take a photo today to compare the old photos but it was too dark! Of the 6 in my party the two who got enchiladas only ate one bit and sat it aside. They said the meat inside tasted like it had sat out all night. The chicken and steak and shrimp folks said their main course was fine.
Heres my thing- you are 2 bucks more than most Jasper Mexican joints and it use to be worth it. I know you got a great location so step up.
Spectacular. Have eaten there 3 times now and they never let me down. Our was was exceptional (i actually remembered him from another joint- that good) I got the enchilada supremo. Such a great deal for the price. And THE BEST salsa I have had in years. The chips were exceptionally fresh. Great presentation and atmosphere. The best place to eat on downtown...
Read more@Kallie Fazzio you were charged for a water due to it not being a public restroom, the only way to use theirs is for PAYING CUSTOMERS. The reason it is not public is due to the restrooms backing up if allowed freely to use by any and everyone. these girls were told the rules and they were following, giving a bad review for not respecting the restaurants rules has something to say about you as a person. We visit this restaurant on the regular, despite bad days or life in general these girls and their staff are top notch! so rather than giving a bad review over a restroom use, go to the next place available for public restroom, and use it next time! Stop being negative and feeling entitled to do however you please, anywhere you go; their reaction to how you were responding to their rules is based off of you, not them. next time, reflect, breath and keep in mind it’s a business and it has rules and request for all people who enter!
