Brought my son to the ER on july 3, 2021. He had severe migraine pains and was suffering. My son is one that usually refuses medical care at all costs, but he had even brought himself to their ER earlier that afternoon to try to get some help. If he finally makes the decision to go seek medical help, it's because he truly needs it.
He had been sick in the previous weeks with flu like symptoms and now had migraines so bad that he was literally in tears. The first time he went to their ER that day, they gave him a rapid test for covid. When that came back negative, they gave him a prescription for antibiotics and a sinus spray. Nothing for the migraines that he had been suffering for, for 3 days.
His pain stayed steady, he called me in tears again, over his pain, saying he just didn't know what else to do. I brought him in to the ER at 10pm that night.
We got him admitted and the nurse asked why they hadn't had him on fluids when he was in earlier. Of course, he didn't know why any of that hadn't been done. With the promise of a medication to be administered in an IV drip, he finally felt like there was hope for the pain to finally go away.
They put him in a room in the ER and we waited. And waited. A different nurse came in, asked a few basic questions. I asked about the fluids, she was very short with me, and a bit snarky. Not much understanding for the 27 year old man that was moaning in pain in the room.
So we waited until my son just got so frustrated that he left. When you have a dim view of medical providers, and they don't seem to care when you do reach out for help, I can understand the frustration.
Why is it that ER rooms are anything BUT an EMERGENCY room? This kid was in real pain, and not much effort was made to help him or give him meds. But you could certainly hear staff talking, joking and laughing and making rude comments about what I assume, were other patients. Why wasn't some movement made to at least get something done? Why would you leave someone moaning in pain for 5 minutes, much less, one hour? He told me that it seemed that as soon as they found out that he wasn't COVID positive, they didn't care. He...
Read moreDecember 15, 2018 My husband had a truck accident and was brought to this facility. He had a concussion, shoulder, and hip injury. I was 3 hours away in Springfield Missouri. When I arrived there was no on at the admittance desk and I looked around to see my husband sitting in a waiting room for me to drive him home. I looked for a wheel chair of which there were none. I was going to bring my car around but there was no place to park my car under the carport area. No nurses and people scattered around everywhere. So, I steadied my husband, because he was dizzy and light headed, and we walked to the car and drove 3 hours home in the rain. He only remembers bits and pieces of the accident and his brief stay at the Emergency Room. I would of liked to have talked to someone about his condition but no one was to be found. I waited around about 10-15 minutes but my husband wanted to go home. My husband did tell me that a nurse came in and asked him to sit on the edge of the bed to see how he felt. My husband was very dizzy, the nurse asked him if he could get up, that he would help him get his clothes on and wait in the waiting room for your ride to come because they really needed the bed. So, the nurse helped him get in his clothes and walked him to waiting room where I found him. Nurse Brandon was the only one who seemed to care. It seemed the only thing that they were concerned about was making sure to go through my husbandâs wallet to get insurance card to get paid. Iâm sorry but a person with a concussion, loss of memory should not be waiting in the waiting room for someone to take them home. I do not know if he had xrays, MRI, or CT scan. I donât know what service he received and my husband canât remember or wasnât awake enough to know. No staff was there to wheel my husband out to the car, no instructions, no concern if he did make it home. Iâm very disappointed in the health care my husband received at Capital Regional Medical Center. My husband would of gotten better service at the Veterinary Hospital or clinic. I understand there were a lot of emergencies but my husband is important to me and he didnât receive the care I...
Read moreDr. Cook, Nurse Jessica and the hospital staff were very NICE and helpful. I don't want them to get into trouble. They succeeded in getting my 78 year old mother to GO HOME ONE DAY after her hip replacement surgery.
Cassidy and the crew told us 1.) A nurse would come to the house today AND 2.) HOME HEALTH WOULD COME TODAY TO HELP ME WITH THE TOILET.
Tired of waiting, I called Cassidy at 12:45p.m. today.
She explained the following:
1.) Mom requested a WOMAN to change her HIP DRESSING, and a WOMAN can't be scheduled until FRIDAY OR MONDAY. She didn't say WHY SHE CHOSE TO KEEP THIS A SECRET FROM ME.
When I asked about MOM'S arthritis, pain, blood thinner, stool meds, SHE READ TEXTBOOK ANSWERS TO ME which DO NOT MAKE SENSE ON PAPER OR STATED VERBATIM./, AND My MOTHER WAS TREMBLING IN PAIN bcuz the lbottle said every six hrs. My uncle called someone who told him every FOUR hrs SO HE YELLED AT ME FOR THE ERROR!!!!
When I told Cassidy my mom was up every hour using the restroom, AND THE TOILET IS TOO HIGH FOR HER, she said this exactly, "Well, when the (not sure whether she said the nurse, OT, PT, or Home Health)...person DOES come to the house, it's ONLY FOR ONE HOUR PER DAY 3x per week."
I said, "So... I will be awake indefinitely giving my mom round the clock care with NO HELP AT ALL, for between 3 DAYS (72 hours) to SIX WEEKS.
I thanked her sincerely and told her I'd be sure and call her if my mom FALLS DOWN.
Then I hung up on her.
This is THE DAY AFTER WE CAME home FROM THE HOSPITAL WITHOUT HER WALKER
My mother had to WALK A GRAVEL DRIVEWAY WITH NO Walker the day after surgery because I was pulling the car around AND filling her scripts at the same time she was wheeled outside.
WAS IT MY JOB TO MAKE SURE THE WALKER SHE BROUGHT TO THE HOSPITAL CAME HOME WITH US?
Was SHE expected to remember it DRUGGED ON MEDS FROM SURGERY THE DAY BEFORE?!
Whose job was it?
Then my 71 year old uncle had to DRIVE TO JEFF CITY from VERSAILLES to pick up the walker.
Thank you so very much for all you have done for us. I wish you a pleasant day and pray I never have to go to that...
