Meet Jackson! We borrowed this regal fella from the Jeffersonville Animal Shelter this afternoon for a run in the park and a pup cup🤍 3 Fun Facts About Mr. Jackson: -He loves Car Rides, and Prefers AC over the Outdoors 🚙 -His favorite singer is definitely Teddy Swims 🎵 -He would make the BEST Movie Buddy. He definitely wont spoil the ending if he’s seen it before 📺 If any or all of these things seem like I just made a post about you, schedule a meet and greet with Jackson! He’s sweet, cuddly, and just the coolest dog on the block 😎 #sadiebphotography #summer #2024 #animalshelter #adoption

I FOUND MY BEST FRIEND AT THIS SHELTER!! I had NEVER been to a shelter before. We had got a German Shepherd a few month prior & we could tell she was lonely so randomly one day I decided I wanted to go to a local shelter & rescue our next dog. When we drove up a teenager was walking my future dog in the gated play area & I looked at my fiance & said, “THATS THE ONE!” I had not seen any other dogs or even got out of the car but I knew he was the one. I found out he had just gotten surrendered by his owners THAT DAY, I got SO lucky I randomly decided to go to the shelter. When we went in we waited to play with him next & then I played with some other dogs to get them out of their kennels but even my fiance knew that the dog I wanted was THE ONE! It was love at first site for both of us! I have had Jax for over a year now & could not be happier, he is my buddy, my best friend, my everything. When I seen him shaking in that kennel from fear it broke my heart, he was terrified & confused & when I found out I could not take him home until he got his shots & got neutered & everything I was so sad to leave him there but I knew I had to & when he seen us come back two days later to take him, he was so excited. His name was originally Goliath (even though he’s 15pounds) haha but we changed it to Jax because I kept getting hung up on the word for some reason when saying it. So the first day I went into the shelter the worker originally told me that she had a few people who had already called asking if they had any small dogs so she said that she would have to get back to me before she could let me adopt Goliath/Jax. I was devastated because I knew how bad I wanted him & I just wanted to take him home already & give him all the love and attention he deserves. I gave her my information & the next morning I went back to the shelter to see the puppy again (he was 10months at the time) she told me I couldn’t take him out of the kennel because he was waiting to go to surgery so I went and sat in his kennel with him & held him & then I walked a few other dogs just to get them outside & out of the kennel & when I walked back inside with one of the other dogs she said, “so you want to adopt Goliath,” MY HEART FILLED WITH JOY & I was SO beyond happy & replied, “YES!!!” I signed everything & paid & got to pick him up the next day after his surgery went well. I’ll post a picture. We have been letting his hair grow out over winter so we can get him professionally groomed for summer.

This is our buckeye playing in the snow this past winter, the family dog that JB Ogle stole from us,we could t afford the $300.00 at the time,we went there in person and explained this but it fell on deaf ears,I've called many many times left messages I've e mailed them with no reply, how can they adopt our family dog out knowing he has a home? We have had him his entire life 9yrs all because we didn't have the money thek dog catcher himself knows where buckeye lives,he has come to the house before and picked me up. So honestly bottom line here is you stole our dog

I’ve had 3 encounters with them and all three were horrible. The staff are rude, can’t get any straight answers from them about anything, and they will lie straight to your face about the availability and care of an animal so that they can biasly reject you without proper reasoning.

Encounter #1: ~6 Years ago. I wanted to adopt a dog. I met all of their so-called criteria and found a small dog that would be in absolute heaven in my fenced in yard with no other animals.

After multiple visits and empty promises, I was promptly rejected at the last minute by a CRUDE brunette lady who most here have dealt with in regards to being treated like you’re scum of the earth. She was absolutely horrid during the whole process and would not tell me why I was rejected, so I asked the front desk. They asked on my behalf and came back with some bull about how my neighborhood had kids and it’s unsafe for small dogs to be near them...

I’ve had small dogs all my life and I’ve never had a professional tell me a small dog isn’t safe unless you live in an area with no children. I went to the KY Humane Society and adopted one instead. No issues whatsoever.

Encounter #2: ~4 Years Ago. One night when I had family over, someone accidentally let my dog out and we didn’t notice until a few hours later. After searching the neighborhood as best we could, I decided to wait until morning. He’s gotten out once before and he’ll usually wait by the front door when he’s done exploring. Morning came and he wasn’t there, so my first action was to call around to the various shelters.

I called this one and they said someone brought in a dog that morning that fit his description. I immediately go and ask to see him, providing pictures and vet documents that he’s my dog. The same brunette lady from the first encounter immediately refused. She accused me of dropping him off on the side of the road and having regrets because there’s “just no way he’d wander that far and get picked up by someone in a different neighborhood.”

I demanded to speak to whoever was in charge and she turned around and went to the back without saying a word. A few minutes later, she tells me to go into one of the adoption rooms to verify that he’s my dog. I was instructed to just open the door and do/say nothing. She said he would have to approach me for this “verification”. More bull...

I open the door and there he is strutting around. He sees me and immediately runs towards my legs. I go to pick him up and the lady snaps at me and says I’m not allowed to touch him. That’s not even the worst part. He was in that room because there was a couple in there ready to ADOPT him. You read that right. Barely any time after he’s found, she’s already got him up for adoption when they’re supposed to wait 5? days for someone to claim him. I was beyond angry. If I had waited just another few hours maybe, I might have lost my dog forever.

I started demanding answers. I had the paperwork and sufficient proof that he was mine and she could not legally keep me from taking him home, even with her baseless accusation that I dumped him off like trash. She picked him up, said she had to give him worm meds (I had documentation that he was up to date on everything and took monthly preventatives), so I figured she was just stalling again.

I took my phone out ready to call the non-emergency number and told her I was letting them know my dog was being held hostage and she had nothing to justify keeping him from me if I didn’t have him back in the next 5 mins. She goes in the back and comes out holding him tight, tells me I’m “not allowed to do this again”, again accusing me of dumping him, and relunctantly gives him to me after having to pry him out of her arms. Made me feel like a criminal for just wanting my dog home safe with me. Left and never looked back until recently...

Encounter #3: Rejected for a spay/neuter voucher because the person I asked was the brunette. :) Damn this place to hell. I hope the animals aren’t treated as poorly...

Animal control from JB Ogle came to my house with the Jeff police saying they had received a call and asking how many cats I had and they needed to search my house. No warrant or pc they threatened my husband and myself with arrest , because our almost 11 year old dog had a medical issue a vet had refused to treat her for unless we paid him thousands of dollars for treatment for heartworm which she never had and because he labeled her with that no vet would treat her, if we did not sign our dog and cats over to them. Our dog had this issue for years which did not complicate her life in anyway. They took almost all my animals and its been almost a month and still we don't know what has happened to them because they have not been listed them on the JB Ogle website ir any other animal adoption in this areas website for adoption when other pets have been. I am sure they have done this to others!! I went to the mayor's office and got a copy of the ordinance that stated if you run a kennel without a license you can only have a certain amount of animals, it said nothing about a personal residence. All my animals were well taken care of and even the male animal control officer nade comments on how friendly and agile our almost 11 year old german shepard/ chow was that the female animal control officer stated that our dog would be dead in 24 hours if we did not give her to them right then. I spoke to the JB Ogle director, who was the most obnoxious rudest person ever. She said if I attempted to get my animals back she would say I was hoarding animals. I asked for the pictures to prove there was any issues with my animals or my home which she replied to with its in the ordinance call the city attorney if you don't like it, so I did. I spoke to a woman who stated she was the city attorney who also extremely rude. She told me to just sue them then when I asked to file a formal complaint on the Jeff cop and both animal control officers, and that was the only way she would accept a complaint, because she was not going to return my animals they stole. Also the mayor's office informed me that the director of JB Ogle makes her own rules which the director backed that statement up by telling me that nobody will tell her what to do. The city of Jeff needs to be sued and soon my husband and I will be filing a suit against the city for illegal search and seizure. According to the laws animals are property which makes them illegal to seize without a warrant. They did not have a warrant and the Jeff cop who was with them and allowed for this to take place went to step into my house but instead stated he would just wait outside. I'm sure he knew it was illegal that's why he changed his mind when he went to step inside my house to search it along side the 2 animal control officers which had no identification but sweaters with jb ogle animal control embroidered on them. Anyone can make those sweaters easily. I miss my Jefferson and Gussy extremely bad and I want...
