When I first walked into K&Y Beauty I thought the decor was beautiful. It was my first time in a while getting my hair done at a hair salon and I was very excited to go here because one of my family members recommended this place.
When it was my turn to wash my hair for the most part it was pleasant, but it all went downhill from there. From my previous experience of getting a deep conditioning and a wash is that roller sets are placed and you are sat under the dryer for 20-30 minutes to wash it off again. The stylist told me my hair was too short for roller sets and I just sat with a shower cap on feeling soggy due to the water dripping from my hair. No dryer. No anything.
When it was time to do my hair, the brush that the stylist used was really overdue so the teeth will get hot and burn my scalp with each stroke. The only response I will get from the stylist is âstay stillâ :/.
Next, she flat irons it and parts it and let me tell you, the only thing I could do is laugh because it looked so weird. At that point keeping my composure was really important.
I paid my $30 and went about my day, but I wasnât pleased with it on the way home but I didnât stress because I figured Iâll just wet my hair to get my kinky curls back.
Long and behold, I wet my hair, the ends looked like it was baked in the oven. I pretty much anticipated I would get heat damage but I still didnât trip because âaNiT NoThiNg A tRiM WoUlDnâT FiXâ right? WRONG ! Now my hair falls out in clumps every time I style it or even wet it.
To conclude, if you want to go to this establishment, be my guest, but go at...

Next when it was time to put my hair in rollers, she was rushing to comb through my poorly washed hair barely using water, ripping through my ends. I explained to her that more conditioner and water needs to be used because I have really curly low porosity hair. She gaslit me saying that it seems like sheâs ripping it because my hair is dry. I kept calm either way and sat under the dryer. When it was time to cut my ends, I asked her to cut very little because i typically keep my hair curly so the split ends wonât show much. She proceeded to cut well over an inch of my hair. I cried and asked her to even it out, she did a terrible job saying that I was mad that she cut it short so she didnât want to make it even shorter. What really upset me is the lack of common sense. Why would I want the splits to be completely uneven? She smiled and laughed while I cried, and thatâs really what is forcing me to write this review. She thought it was funny or not big of a deal. I used to love this salon but the woman did such a bad job I donât want anyone else to go through this what I went through. 0/10 experienced. The owner and her sister are super sweet but the client and owner should take accountability. I appreciate her sister for not charging me but the damage done to my hair is irreparable. The photo I added is how she...
Read moreHonestly, wow. I just needed a blowout and trim. They talked about how difficult my hair was the entire time I was there, how curly it was and how dry it was. Spoke about me in Spanish (I understood it all) and then for the trim I had to keep checking if my ends were really trimmed, she ended up having to go back through it.
Itâs not cool to make your client feel like a science experiment. Left feeling worse than when...
