Lived at the Hazel for just under a year - it is really a lovely little spot. The best way I can describe it is cozy and updated, plus quiet, with a MCM-chic interior in an up and coming neighborhood.
Pros: Pets are welcome here my part of the building was quiet concierge (SAMMMM) is great. updated appliances safe neighborhood in immediate surroundings, at least. responsive and friendly maintence keyless entry to apartment and amenities via phone tap clean: hallways and amenities cleaned every day by housekeeping Cafe Lafayette is a gem - great breakfast sandwiches. River Mart across street has basic supplies, BELA wine and liquor store on same block. spacious apartment layouts, my walk-in closet was huge :)) package room bike storage in garage great access to light rail one block away!! free street parking (mind street sweeping schedule) walkable to Liberty State Park: what a gem, just under the bridge of the turnpike the entrance to LSP and walking/ biking trails as well as ferry to ellis island. Rooftop lounge with view of city/ Statue of Liberty
Cons (few):

Read moreI've had a fairly decent experience living here overall, but it's been a mix of positives and frustrations.
The maintenance team is definitely the highlight. Theyâre responsive, friendly, hard-working and great at fixing things promptly. The common areas are also kept clean, and I havenât had too many day-to-day issues with the apartment itself.
That said, there are some consistent problems that have made the experience less smooth than it could be. The garage door is frequently broken, and communication around building issues or repairs is often delayed or nonexistent. Sometimes weâre only told about an issue or of an impact to our areas after itâs already happened, leaving no time to plan or make accommodations.
There was also an error on my lease where the wrong address was written, and itâs caused several issues for me since. I was also told there would be storage units available, but after being rescheduled and stood up for the initial showing of the storage unit, I was then told there werenât any available after all. Do they not keep track of who is renting which storage rooms?
Parking was another sore spot originally. The lease originally had a lower monthly price listed for a parking spot, and after I signed, I was told the actual cost was higher, and there was nothing I could do at that point. They did apologize, but it was still frustrating. There's also no enforcement for people parking in othersâ assigned spots, we just get messages via the Carson app about asking people to move their cars and telling people it is the "final reminder." The doors to the lobby and building in general are also often left wide open, which feels unsafe.
Communication from the front office can be slow and inconsistent at times. The staff are friendly when you do interact with them, but getting a timely response can be a challenge at times. And their AI assistant âZoeyâ is not very helpful. It just feels like another way to avoid direct communication with tenants when they need actual help.
In short, while the place has potential and some great staff, their customer service and internal management need improvement. With better communication, organization, and professionalism, it could be a much...
Read moreMoving from Morris Park, Bronx, to The Hazel in Jersey City has been an incredible journey for my familyâmy husband and our dog. Itâs been one of the best decisions weâve ever made. When we first started exploring Jersey City, we were drawn to its reputation as an up-and-coming area. We toured several buildings, but many felt either too big and impersonal or too small, lacking the amenities we wanted. Then we found The Hazelâand it was the perfect fit. Not too big, not too small, but just right. Itâs the kind of place where you feel connected to your neighbors and the people around you.
The building itself is stunning, with a modern design thatâs both inviting and functional. The amenities are thoughtfully curated, from the fitness center to the coworking spaces, rooftop lounge. Thereâs even a pool, a yoga studio, and cozy lounges that make it easy to relax or focus. Everything is kept impeccably clean, well-maintained with an amazing scent as I walk through the halls. The team here works tirelessly. even on weekendsâto ensure the building is always in top shape.
What truly sets The Hazel apart is the community. The Team starting from Jasmine Howe, the Community Manager, Luis Sepulveda, Leasing Agent and the concierge team including Samantha, Ricky, and Marieâtheyâre part of the fabric of the building. They bring kindness and professionalism to everything they do, making every interaction warm and genuine. They donât just manage the building; they foster a sense of community that makes you feel cared for. Itâs rare to find a team that feels like an extension of your home, but thatâs exactly what theyâve created here.
The Hazel is also incredibly dog-friendly, which adds to the vibrant community feel. Every day, youâll see neighbors walking their dogs, chatting, and enjoying the area together. Liberty State Park is just a quick scooter ride away, offering gorgeous water views and a peaceful escape. Between the stunning structure, thoughtful amenities, and welcoming atmosphere, The Hazel has been the...
