If you live in the Concord/Charlotte area and you don't know about FireFold yet, you're probably being swindled by the Big Box tech retailers! These guys really do right by you and I've been a loyal customer for several years now.
First of all, lets talk cables. You know that Diamond-rated triple shielded 24-carat gold plated HDMI cable that the other guys insist you need for your home theater? Yeah, truth is that digital data doesn't care what the medium is. It's absolute, you're either getting 100% or 0%. FireFold isn't going to nickel and dime you on unnecessary marketing gimmicks. In fact, they've made a business of delivering honest-to-goodness services and products that perform at a professional level, while keeping prices low and educating the consumer on exactly what they need. That 6ft HDMI Cable is going to cost you $30 at the place where they wear the blue polos. FireFold? Five bucks! 83% Savings for the exact same product!
Now that's not to say that everything follows the same "price premium" rule. Some cables (mostly analog) ARE effected by cheaper options. In this case, their staff can guide you in the right direction based on what you need, and you can take peace of mind knowing that they are trustworthy professionals. This goes for all of their Home Theater Products and services. Whether it's installing in-wall speakers or wall-mounting a television, you're going to feel comfortable with FireFold.
These guys also meddle in custom-built PCs and their staff is very knowledgeable in the art of curating an desktop for your specific needs. If you're a system builder like me, they can be an incredible resource for discounted PC parts and advice on the latest and greatest in the PC world. Last time I was in, Seth was in the back working on a state of the art water-cooled gaming tower, complete with 7th Gen Intel Overclocked CPU and a Video Card fit for 4k VR gaming. If I lost you, just know that they can make one kickass custom system.
So much awesomeness, some of which I can't fully cover in this review! You're just going to have to go check it out yourself and see how FireFold is burning the competition, not...
Read moreYesterday, 15 September, my wife made a 60 mile round trip to pick up some Cat 6 cable on my behalf. When she got home and before the package was open, it was obvious (to me, not my wife) that the plastic connector clip was broken, which allows the cable to lock into place.
So earlier today, she made another 60 mile round trip to get it replaced. Sadly, the man who confronted her at Firefold was not the least bit interested in apologizing for the trouble and inconvenience she had endured.
Instead, he repeatedly asked her how we broke it? When she continued to try and clarify it was broken at purchase, she then received a lecture on how Firefold inspects all their products. And during the gruff treatment, he mumbled some untoward things under his breath too.
My wife is as honest as anyone I’ve known. The disrespect he showed her disgusts me. I don’t expect him to know she drove 120 miles for one cable. I don’t expect him to know she fought terrible Charlotte traffic. I don’t even expect him to know she’s honest. But I DO expect him to assume all of it.
When anyone does business with your store, treat them with respect and appreciation for the time and effort they took to patronize you!
I hope CEO Christopher Grouse sees this. I’ve dealt with Firefold before and received a good product at a good price. As they state on their website, they lower prices by eliminating things like fancy packaging. That’s why Cat 6 cable comes in a zip lock bag, and not the molded plastic that might have prevented the broken clip in the first place.
That’s the tradeoff you accept for getting lower prices.
But I’ll never accept my wife being disrespected. Sir you now owe us two apologies. The first is for selling us a defective cable which didn’t seem to bother you (do your job and inspect it), and the second for your highly regrettable conduct as a...
Read moreI ordered the Vanco HTWP72 7.2 Home Theater Connection Wall Plate online from Firefold and considering everything COVID, I received it fairly quickly. Unfortunately, as soon as I opened the packaging, I was very disappointed. The front of the plate is exactly what the picture and description shows. 7 speaker binding posts and 2 rca subwoofer jacks. Flipping the product over, there were the 7 matching binding posts but the subwoofer rca jacks were rg6 connectors. I immediately called customer support, which answered quickly and took down my information and said an RMA would be initiated. I didn't receive any information as she suggested, so within 72 hours of receiving the product, I completed an online RMA request via the Firefold website. It has been over two weeks and I still have not received any information to return this product. I am very disappointed that I ended up spending $65 on a product that looked great, ultimately in the end, I built my own wall plate that will work perfectly. Overall, I would not...
