WOW! Just WOW! Our flight with Wings Over Kauai is one of the activities I was most looking forward to on our trip, and it totally delivered! It was truly the most magical and breathtaking experience of my life.

I know there are many options for seeing Kauai by air, including both helicopters and small airplanes, but let me convince you that Wings Over Kauai is the way to go.

1. The tour lasts about 1 hour and allows you to see more of the island that the helicopters, which usually skip the south shore on their flights.
2. There are no middle seats! This guarantees that everyone on the plane will get a window seat, and if the plane isn't at full capacity (our plane was max 6 passengers), then everyone is seated on the right which is the best view on the tour.
3. The cost is about half the cost of the helicopters. Let me repeat that, it costs about half of what the helicopters charge!
4. They have GoPro cameras attached to each wing and one inside the plane which record the flight. You can purchase an edited video of your actual flight which is 100% worth it IMO!
5. Our pilot was Marcus and he was absolutely fantastic! He is a birder, like my sister, and before our flight he even wrote down tips on where to see birds on the island. He did an incredible job narrating throughout our flight, and the flight itself was incredibly smooth and comfortable. Marcus truly went above and beyond and made our experience even better than I could have imagined.
6. If you are prone to motion sickness, often times the small planes can provide a smoother flight with less rapid changes in motion than helicopters.
7. I actually prefer that the plane flies a bit higher and provides a better panorama and wider shots than helicopters that fly closer to the terrain. If you have a camera with a good zoom lens, you can still get really nice close up shots!

My sister-in-law is visiting Kauai for a week, and it is her first time here. Although we are taking her to many of the beaches and beautiful spots on Kauai; to put it all in perspective, I thought about taking her on a helicopter ride. It had been a few years since I last toured Kauai by helicopter and had not realized how much more expensive, they now are then I remember. My wife found online Wings Over Kauai Air Tour, and suggested I research. I reviewed how much they cost for how much time in the air, and I think Wings Over Kauai is half the cost of a comparable helicopter air tour. So, we booked an afternoon tour in their Air Van. Huge windows, comfortable seats, and so much quieter than the helicopter tour my wife and I had earlier this year over the Big Island. I got to sit in the co-pilot seat, my wife and sister-in law were in the row directly behind the pilot and me; there was a 4th passenger directly behind my wife. Turns out the 4th passenger works for the Hawaii State Parks on Kauai, and he was treating himself to seeing some of what he can never see from the ground. We lucked out with the weather, and had perfect visibility, and saw so much of the beauty of Kauai, many canyons and waterfalls that can only be seen by air. The pilot was great, he was also very informative. Our check-in process was flawless, and I was surprised that there were no upcharges for everyone getting a great view (seat) and perfect opportunities to take lots of pictures. It was a super blast to sit in the co-pilot’s seat, I just had to remember that I had front and left windows to look through in addition to the large right window at my side. Simply Amazing, This is the Best money you can spend! My wife, brother and his wife all took this flight. We booked the entire plane, which was only about $75 more than having 2 additional passengers. This allowed all 4 of us to sit on the right side, and enabling the pilot to focus on those sights vs trying to accommodate 6 passengers.

First, the flight was one of the smoothest small craft flights any of us had ever flown on, and my brother and I are Air Force Veterans. Additionally, my brother lives in Oahu, and has flown in several helicopter rides around the islands, and even he said this was hands down the best tour flight he had ever been on. The weather was very agreeable that day, but not perfect. Yet take off, in flight, and landing were like riding in a limo. Just smooth, relaxing, entertaining and educational.

Our pilot Andre was the best. He has lived on the island for many years and his general knowledge was outstanding. He pointed out everything as we flew and took us to every location that you would expect and more. Communication was easy with the headsets and Andre, from Minnesota, was just as cool as Chuck Yeager. The plane was clean and comfortable. Very easy to take photos and they all turned out so very good. A video of the entire flight was also available for sale an it is fabulous as well. Our family will love it.

I could ramble on and on, but if you are having any doubts about this plane flight vs a helicopter, in our opinion, having done both, this is the winner and NO QUESTION if you have a weak stomach.
