Messy, mismanaged, understocked, overpriced and with poor customer service. It's also the only hardware store in Keeau so that's the only reason anyone goes there. If you order online, it'll probably get stolen. If you go in to shop in store,you will be followed as if you are the thief. The employees project so much, internal theft housekeeping would do wonders for this business. I can almost always find a better price online. The few times I've tried going there for projects that had needs they weren't met at this location. The one in downtown Hilo was amazing! Super helpful staff down in Hilo, 1 helpfulish staff member at Keeau. The dude who dyes his hair bright colors and is tall has always be cool and helped when we asked for it. He seems to be one of the few employees who's not outright robbing the store. I've seen a lot of employees see their friends come in and look the other way while they clean the place out. That costs us all more money in the long run. As a permanent resident I truly hope this hardware store gets itself together before it goes under. I had a small plumbing repair to do and wanted to avoid going all the way to Hilo for the parts. Immediately after entering the store a staff member quickly guided me to the correct section and when I showed him what I needed he said "Let me get Larry."

I'm glad he did. I do a reasonable amount of handyman stuff for friends and family so I am in hardware stores frequently. Larry is the most competent staff member I have ever dealt with at any general merchandise hardware store. He quickly and competently gathered all the components I needed to replicate my broken part. He was polite and knowledgeable. His expertise simplified my trip hugely.

Nice, well stocked ace hardware. Not very many associates at this location so you may need to ask four assistance at the front of you need it.

Interesting assortment of knickknacks and sundry items. Just to give you an idea of what that means, this place has truff sauce next to the bbq supplies. By the saints, there is idiosyncratic stuff like you wouldn't expect like that all over the store of you pay attention.
