Kempner Volunteer Fire Department — Local services in Kempner

I was at the volunteer event myself, taking photos for the event. Photos tell the truth. Race wasn’t an issue at the event. Everyone that was there, kids included, were helping or enjoying community fellowship. Some just came out to eat lunch and spend some family time. That’s absolutely fantastic! Some stopped by to buy raffle tickets only. That’s absolutely fantastic too! Now, outside of that, the event wasn’t hosted by KVFD. So the ratings for the event are misplaced. A nice litte rural fire dept. with an annual BBQ & auction fundraiser - worth attending at least once.

Downgraded overall rating because I don't agree with their other fundraising activities - panhandling on busy highway intersections. To my way of thinking that is causing traffic hazzards galore and should be illegal. I'd be willing to bet that if I were to do that for some other cause, I'd be stopped and not allowed...
