Most recent visit was not a pleasant experience. Motorized cart kept stopping very abruptly for no apparent reason you had to get up then sit back down to hope it would move! It happened so many times I lost count & my composure after being jersey around so many times. Check out girl even felt telling me to, "stand up then sit back down and it should restart, they all do that." I said..."let's hope cause it's been done throughout the store today!" After going through the check out, I had to rebag almost everything. Frozen foods and dry goods do not belong in the same bag. 6 bags of mini donuts do not belong in one doubled bag, since you're already using 2 bags, put 3 in each! Bag with bagels & bread ripped open and other items were seemingly just tossed without thought into the bags so I had no choice but to rebag the order and I'm at the next isle over from where I had checked out so I'm sure that was seen on security footage then upon leaving the store, the cart just stopped dead so I transfered my items into a hand cart and informed the workers in the vestibule that it was dead, said happy Easter then left. The young man that collects carts took my cart back for me and was thanked and wished a happy Easter. I believe the girl that checked out the groceries & bagged them is a newer employee, she was trying to be patient, polite & helpful as well as quick so I don't hold it against her at all. The carts are my biggest issue by far since this IS NOT the 1st time having this...
Read moreThank you so much Giant Eagle. I was just at the kennedy twp location picking up my wife's 95 year old grandmother's yearly holiday giftcard list; among other items for her. I had her debit card . I got to the register, and was told by the lovely cashier, who you could tell really loved her job by her demeanor, that they would NOT allow me to make the gift card purchase because my name was not on her card. Never mind that I had her pin. I asked to speak with a manager to explain the situation and without even processing what he was being told, he proceeded to regurgitate his script. "Due to the policy...blah blah blah" (like the robot he is). I even presented her list, which included preservision (real suspicious, I know). When I asked where the policy is posted, because I have never had a problem before (this is the 3rd Christmas my wife and I have handled this task), the "manager" was unable to show it posted or produce a written copy of said policy. This is the holidays. There are probably 100s of people a week, maybe a day, who are buying giftcards for elderly people to give to their family and you are doing nothing to help make the stressful holiday season easier anyone; including yourselves. Also, your employees need trained on how to deliver "bad news" to customers without using an accusatory tone. Thank you. We will be shopping at the vastly superior Whole Foods or Trader Joe's....
Read moreAfter shopping at another Giant Eagle for years and being treated like I didn't exist, the Giant Eagle in Kennedy is a welcomed and refreshing change. I recently went in to ask for boxes to be used to pack away some small items in our home I was treated to a person that worked in the produce department. This gentleman was eager to help me get the boxes I needed and even offered to help carry them to my car. Wow, how little does this happen!
Trying to get something from the deli at the old Giant Eagle was never easy. On more than one occasion I was the only customer at the deli while several deli workers were in a private conversation and would glance over at me as I waited patiently. The final straw was one evening when it took the deli clerk more than 10 minutes to cut a 1/2 pound of cheese and 1/2 pound of meat.
Not so at the Giant Eagle in Kennedy township. This group of deli clerks are friendly, professional, and efficient. I have never waited more than a few minutes to get served no matter how busy they are. They are pleased that I am at the store.
All the cashiers are friendly and efficient which makes for a great shopping experience.
I'm so glad I switched to this location. My only regret is that I didn't do so sooner. Thanks to all the hard working folks at the Giant Eagle in...
