Hunan Wok Chinese Takeout — Restaurant in Kennedy Township

First of all let me say to whom ever J Mayo is, if you got food poisoning one hour after eating at the Hunan Wok, it was NOT from what you at there. Look up food poisoning.... it takes MANY hours to possibly a day or two to materialize. So don’t blame the Hunan Wok for your issues.

Now to my review. I have been going to the Hunan Wok in the Kenmawr Plaza for so many years, possibly more than twenty. This place is a true Chinese takeout restaurant. I would rate their food to be consistently good, to even great. The key word is consistent. It is not an upper end sit down restaurant, although there are booths. The place is a bit on the older side; however, it is dead clean. This little Chinese takeout place has always put out nicely sized portions at a very reasonable price. The people are always polite.

Don’t expect some kind of PF Chang type of place — it’s not. Actually, it’s much better. It’s more personal and it’s REAL authentic Chinese food.

Currently, throughout this whole pandemic situation, they have taken every precaution and done everything right to ensure the health and safety of the customers and of themselves.

So, for the record, to all of those who gave this little Chinese takeout restaurant a poor review, you don’t know good Chinese...

I stopped in for lunch items and was told the lunch special was not available on New years eve,that being said we ordered two easy gen tso chef specials, some low mein, and crab rangoon. the staff was very friendly and told me ten mins or so I ran next door to store and when I came back less than five mins later my order was bagged up .now when I have gone in the past they are always pretty fast but today they were super quick when I got the food home I live less than 10 mins away. The food was not up to its usual standards. The chicken was dried out , the rangoon was so soggy and greasy,the rice i ordered (white) I instead got pork fried which was actually so dry it looked burnt. So I feel like they gave me some reheated food from maybe a different order and tried to fix it up and re bag it. The 30 bucks I spent because the lunch specials were not randomly available on a Monday afternoon & not posted on menu or anywhere else was alot of money to waste on unedible food. I will not return. If they are ok with sending food like that out of there restaurant than they don't want to make any money by...

Went there for the first time on Tuesday October 4th. I had the General two's chicken and crab Rangoon's. I was surprised with the amount of crab Rangoon's I got. Even though it was packed to go I asked the nice lady if it was okay if my friend and I could eat inside. That wasn't a problem. Everything was fresh! The chicken didn't taste stale (unlike some places I've eaten at in Nebraska) the egg roll was not bad, and the crab Rangoon's were pretty good too just thought they could have used a little extra flavor like a little green onion or some white pepper. The protion looked small but don't let your eyes fool you it was a decent sized portion and I got full. Split the crab Rangoon's with my friend and ate them on my dinner break at work.
