When you’re walking up to the doors at Rooms To Go you can see the sales people jockeying for position just inside the doors, this might be the thing I dislike the most about shopping there. I do understand with them being on commission.
As we were walking up to the entrance, I said to my wife, “We might have just hit the jackpot” when I saw who was positioned to greet us. JOHN GHAWALY couldn’t have been better or a more knowledgeable sales associate. I want to encourage others to walk in and ASK FOR HIM. You will be in great hands, I promise you!
We walked in shopping for a mattress and we thought we knew what we wanted, the Beautyrest World Class Level Three Medium Pillow Top King Mattress and after a couple pit stops at other Beautyrest models we found the one we were looking to buy. John told us the features of that model, we laid on it and we liked it.
He quickly took our information (as we laid on the bed) and we moved to a living room setup to complete the credit process.
John was absolutely delightful to sit and speak with through the process. He’s been with RTG for 14 years and we talked about the company. We set up for delivery & pickup of current mattress setup (did you know if they take away your mattress it gets totally torn apart and all the materials are recycled?). I can only hope the delivery & haul away process goes as smoothly as the purchase process with John.
If you need anything from RTG, walk in and ASK FOR JOHN GHAWALY! According to his business card he works 10a-6p Tuesday & Friday, Thursday 1p-9p, and weekends all day.
June 7th UPDATE: Two issues: one our fault, one theirs. When the mattress arrived the seam was ripped. The delivery driver (who was flying solo making deliveries and absolutely awesome!) said no problem with the tear they will replace it. The other issue was with the 4 inch box spring the bed was so tall I practically need a ladder to get in bed!
I went back to see John this morning and customer service already had the replacement all setup.
They do have a provision in their guarantee about if it’s too tall so they were happy to exchange the 4 inch box spring for the bunker board. There is a service charge of maybe $100 and I was totally fine with that.
I’ve been very impressed with the service from RTG. It’s been a great experience and we will definitely be back.
June 22nd Update: Our replacement mattress was delivered and we exchanged the box spring for bunkie boards. For the second time the delivery driver, Arlando Bradford, showed up solo. Delivering these 16-inch thick mattresses are not a one man job but he got it done quickly and efficiently. We are very happy to have returned the box spring for the bunkie boards.
Our thanks to...
Read moreDo not ever purchase furniture from Rooms to GO. I spent thousands of dollars for 2 orders. The incorrect set order #1 was delivered and it was put together improperly. The delivery person said customer service would give me a call that day. 1 week later no call received. I call customer service and they told me to call the store. I called the store and the sales rep told me to call customer service because it was an incorrect pull. I called customer service and they told me to call the store back to verify that it was an incorrect pull of equipment.
I asked to speak to the supervisor then she processed the exchange for the correct furniture. Then I get a call for exchange before delivery and they are still missing a piece. I tell them no I want to cancel everything for a full refund for both orders and you can get the incorrect furniture back.
That representative said she can only cancel the redelivery. I call the store 6 times and was disconnected 5 until I said I had to write a review about this. Then the representative said she would refund me but I had to pay 20% of the order for a restocking fee of the incorrect furniture they delivered. This was a completely different set from what I paid for.
I speak to the manager letting him know that this is unacceptable and paying $400 dollars to get my money back for something that I never received. I am explaining to him that redelivery is not sufficient after having unusable bedset for a month. He is getting stern with me trying to explain that it is company policy over and over to charge a 20% restocking even if you don't have 'Your" furniture. This is not a smart business practice for a Customer who honestly responded and tried to work with their mistake. Although, Rooms to Go will continuously drop the ball. Additionally, why would I want someone to deliver another set if the first one wasn't put together properly? Just take it all back.
I am telling everyone I know to never buy from Rooms to Go. I sincerely hope that this transaction leads to a loss in revenue of well over $400. I will purchase my furniture from Ashley's and add the pictures. Then I will write a letter and review to BBB. Read moreWhat can I say about rooms to go? DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT spend your hard-earned money here. This place has a history of messing up people's orders across the entire country. I ordered a bed set, and they informed me that it will take a week and a half to get someone out to assemble. That was fine, as I wasn't working remotely at that time. The day they showed up, they assembled the dresser, but they informed me that they were missing screws. They stated they could not perform the rest of the already paid-for service. They told me to reschuedule and call customer service so they can send in the missing screws. I spent nearly 3 hours waiting for customer service to answer the phone until I was able to get a date to reschedule. The earliest date they had was when I was scheduled to work remotely. UNACCEPTABLE. I spent a month and counting sleeping in a "construction site" of a room waiting for the assemblers to get their stuff together. On top of that, I spent more time on the phone waiting for customer service, because THEY SENT ME THE WRONG SCREWS. Did not realize it until I looked in one of the boxes that the movers NEVER opened, and found the screws they sent in RIGHT THERE. This company is unorganized, and other reviews prove it as well. Rooms-to-go will never make this right because their return policy is NOT consumer-friendly. If you are thinking of buying from them, JUST DON'T. Take the date of this review and every other into consideration before you spend your hard-earned money on garbage products, with GARBAGE CUSTOMER SERVICE.
I got my mattress from a local mattress store, and from that experience alone with many others, I will only shop at small, local, mom-and-pop shops. They will save you a lot of hassle. They CARE and have better return policies than Rooms-To-Go. More money, but you are paying for things to get done right the FIRST time. Not the...
