Best Italian food in Metairie ! I would stop there, but you need to know what is so amazing. We had heard several times that we needed to visit but have put it off honestly for years. Our mistake. Now we’re planning on how we can get back there at least two times a month. There are a lot more dishes for us to try. We arrived at around 4 PM on a Saturday night hoping to be able to get a table and we were successful. Staff was amazing very friendly and service was wonderful. The whole time we were there. First off: their bread and olive oil is magic on the tongue. It arrives at the table, looking a little smashed, but is incredible and delicious with everything. We started with the mussels appetizer - the mussels were cooked perfectly and oh my gosh !!!! The broth- so good. We ate all the mussels and then proceeded to eat the broth with the amazing bread. Slightly tangy and just layers ofgreat flavor. Apologies we can’t talk about the alcohol because we were drinking water. Maybe I’ll update this later when we go back. Our mains were Osso Buco and Beef Bushaloni. The osso bucco was a large piece of meat, of course, wrapped around a bone. The sauce on the also Bogo and its pasta was dark rich and flavorful. Some Italian places tend to put the same sauce on everything, but not here though. The sauce on the beef Bushaloni was uniquely its own. The Bushaloni had some very unexpected yet amazing flavors inside the roll. And again the sauce for the pasta on the Bushaloni had its own unique flavor profile that was rich and amazing and yet very different from the osso bucco. Having lived in Italy for a little while I know how important the pasta alone is to any Italian dish. The pasta by itself had its own rich flavor profile. They did not just throw pasta in water. They have some other magic seasoning sauce going on in there. bellissimo By around 5 PM people were coming in and the staff of course was asking if they had a reservation so my suggestion is make sure you have a reservation. It’s worth it.

Thursday afternoon lunch at this hidden gem located in a strip mall area was a unique experience. The atmosphere screams fancy and so does the food and service. Our waiter, Scott was knowledgeable and attentive. I ordered the tomato basil soup and portobello mushroom panini and it was delicious! Best tomato basil I’ve ever eaten. Hubby ordered the chicken parmigiana which is always delicious. Do yourself a favor and request any other pasta except the angel hair that comes with it. All pastas come with a soup or salad, and the Caesar salad dressing is pretty darn bland and flavorless. If you are looking for good cocktails, this place is definitely NOT it. The margarita was sub par and my cosmo martini was served half full (not 1/4 rim). We actually left the terrible drinks on the table and didn’t even try to finish them. They were sadly also all out of tiramisu, which was a huge disappointment. Place is a bit on the pricier side with entrees ranging $15-$20. They do have some lunch specials, but not many. Overall it’s worth a try. ***edit** Y’all know I came back for the soup and tiramisu, which they actually had this time. The tiramisu was frozen like it needed to thaw out, making the cake really dry and the ice cream really hard. I was not happy. The soup however was delicious. Too bad they won’t share the recipe.

6-24-2023 First time stopping by to check out this restaurant. Heard many great things about this place; so we decided to stop by for lunch. We were immediately greeted by a very friendly staff member and escorted to the bar area where there was seating. As we walked by, we saw a packed house with people enjoying themselves very much. As our server greeted us, they proceeded to ask us our drink order and if we wanted any appetizers. Start off with two waters with lemon and the crostini bread they gave us. The bread was fantastic! I decided to go for the house salad and daube panini and my wife got the caprese salad with the lentil soup. Everything came out very fast. I thoroughly enjoyed my panini and my house salad. Very fresh ingredients. My wife enjoyed her caprese salad and her lentil soup. We most definitely will be back here. Looking forward to seeing what they offer for dinner course. If you're out and about in Metairie please think about coming to this wonderful place, you won't regret it. (Don't let the strip mall fool you-this place is a hidden gem) Grazie mille Sandro's Trattoria Much love, The Giaccones

There are just too many great restaurants around to waste your time and money here!

Let me start by saying that I have had several tasty meals here in the past, but I will NEVER return to this place based on my last experience. On December 23, with family in town for the holidays, I tried to make a reservation for 7 people at 6:30 p.m. I was told no reservations were being taken, and that we should just come in and shouldn't have to wait long to be seated. When we arrived, the hostess/waitress asked for the name of our reservation, to which I replied that hours earlier I was told that I couldn't make a reservation and to just arrive without one. The hostess then explained that they typically stop taking reservations to accommodate walk-ins and we'd have about a 30 minute wait if we were fine with them pushing two tables together to accommodate our large group. We cordially agreed, ordered a round of drinks (some non-alcoholic) and proceeded to go outside and catch up. After a 45 minute wait, I went to check on the status of the tables, and the hostess, who seemed to be taxed waiting on tables, referred me to a young man who seemed to be the manager. He subtly pointed across the room and explained how he was waiting on a table of two ladies to finish up chatting (that their bill had been paid, etc.) and we'd be able to be seated promptly once he could pull their table over to the one next to it. We got another round of drinks and waited outside another 10 minutes. We decided to move inside, hoping that would light the fire under him to get the table moving and seat us. After almost 15 minutes inside, when two other tables had opened, we asked if those tables could be moved together as we were all getting very hungry. He told me they could not be moved and that we needed to continue waiting for the two ladies to vacate their table, or for another large party that seemed to be finishing up. At this point, everyone was starving and losing patience, AND THEN a couple that had just entered the restaurant was seated by the hostess/waitress at one of the two empty tables. When I approached the manager again about why we weren't being seated his response was "How am I supposed to know how long two women are going to talk? and What exactly is it you'd like me to do?" Needless to say, at that point, we had no choice but to close our $70+ drink tab and leave with empty bellies, promising never to return. This place is chaotic, disorganized and run by the most unprofessional "manager" I may have ever encountered in the restaurant business. As for what I would have liked you to do - if you can't seat us at available tables as I requested - how about throw a bread basket outside to keep us from starving and keep us spending money on drinks while you wait for your tables to vacate. Or hint to the ladies after an hour that you have a large party and you'd love to offer them dessert on the patio since you run a tiny restaurant. I'm not a restaurant manager, but these are just my suggestions since you proclaimed how absolutely clueless and inept you are to address the concerns of your...
