*update- The owner did reach out and was very apologetic. Recognized who we were and that we were regular costumers. He was very sweet about it. He wanted to make it right. He was on vacation so he didn’t know what was happening. I will try them again when an issue arises with my PC again. And update my review then.
And another note, the young lady towards the front of the store was sweet and helpful, it was the lady at the back desk that was giving excuses and holding my computer hostage.
Will tell you it needs diagnostic when it doesn’t. The lady that sits at the back desk is extremely rude and knows nothing about what goes on with her technician. Supposedly she’s a manager. She will spew nonsense to make it seem like she knows something when she doesn’t. Had no idea what was going with my computer but spewed nothing that was true to make it seem believable. She lacks any customer skills.
I brought in my computer, that they’ve built, yesterday. Told them I wanted to upgrade the internals and they told me they needed a 100 dollar diagnostic fee. I didn’t tell them I needed diagnostics. I just wanted to upgrade it but I said sure and they said they it would be 3-5 business days or I could pay extra money for it to be 24 hours. So I said I’d pay the extra. I was going through Kafene and asked if I could pay with that. They told me I could. So 24 hours later I hadn’t heard a word. I drove up to the store and went in and asked them about it. They said they could give me a call around 1 or 2 which was three hours after the original 24 hours. One o’clock rolls around and I still don’t have a call from them so I go back in with my mother. When we ask for an update they said the technician wasn’t in yet and he was only there from 12-5. So barely even there to do anything. We ask for the computer back because they couldn’t give us any kind of update and they say the computer was torn apart. They said they could give it back but they were still gonna charge 100 dollars. So we start asking for owners or upper managements numbers. They refuse to give it to us. They start trying to explain the computer to us like we’re dumb. Saying they needed to “test the power supply”. So then the lady finally gets the technician on the line and we get to talk to him. He says that he’s done nothing to the computer except plug it in. They told him the money wasn’t paid up front so not to work on it. Yet no one had called me to tell me I needed to pay up front or told me when I went in earlier. So then the lady still tries to get us to pay the money even though NOTHING had been done to the PC. The lady still tries to tell us the PC has been taken apart. And the guy on the phone says we can just take it and leave. The lady very loudly says “is it hard to put back together?” And then a minute later comes out with it because NOTHING HAD BEEN DONE. Absolute joke of a place now. We’ve built our computers with them for years and have been treated like crap the past year or two. I no longer recommend at all. I’d give them a zero if I could. I use to recommend people to the store all of the time. I took my...
Read moreI had a failed power supply which took nearly 3 weeks to fix as my windows installation failed and neeeded to be reinstalled.
I arrive to pick it up and they are charging me nearly x3 what initially quoted at from $120 to $530 something. I thought this was odd because when they originally diagnosed the problem they called me and said it was policy to discuss what problem and to collect half of the bill as deposit before they started.
Henceforth, I was surprised as they did not mention any further costs. I migh'tve expected the bill to rise to maybe $200 since they had to spend another hour backing up a folder, then wiping my hard drive, and reinstalling windows. But not +$500 without consulting me?
So I ask to see an itemized document, it has many puzzling additions.
They charged me for a 1TB SSD for $150. I quickly asked why they charged me for a new SSD, double the capacity of the one they just needed to wipe. They said it was all they had on hand and my hard drive was not working after wiping it so they had no other alternatives? I argue that they should have called me to ask my options, maybe I would have wanted to wait for the same part to be ordered to save money?
But then I opened my desktop and find my original hard drive was there after all. I almost paid $150 for the same hard drive I had.
They rang me up for $100 for a Windows 10 installation, even though I already owned Windows 10. They falsely claimed that they were required to replace it as it was corrupted/no longer working. I refuted this, as Windows ownership is tied to the motherboard and I've replaced half of the parts and reinstalled it before no problem. They then quickly changed their stance to that it was company policy that they install new Windows os on repairs like mine.
So its company policy to waste $100 of the customer's time each time? This makes me feel like if I paid what they invoiced me without checking, would they have even refunded me the $150 for the SSD?
They also charged me $50 to back up some files. Which in and out of itself isn't bad, but when you ask me over the phone if I'd like something optional, it's common decency to inform me that something will cost extra.
Mechanics, don't say hey I can top off your Fluids and tire pressure if you would like after this brake job and then charge me $25 for it without them...
Read moreI do not recommend you use Computers Plus+ for iphone screen repair. I took an iphone 5s there for repair. I was quoted $100 for the repair. I dropped it off. When the phone was picked up, I was charged $120 (plus tax). I was given a 30 day warranty. After about 2-3 weeks, the touch screen performance dropped off and it no longer worked consistently on the whole screen, and a couple of tiny cracks had developed at the edge of the screen. I couldn't even unlock the phone because a spot on the screen I needed to unlock the phone would not function. I took it in and explained what the problem was. I left the phone for repair. I got a call a couple of days later asking what the problem was. They could not read their co-workers handwriting. I explained the problem again and was asked to come in and bring the paperwork for the original repair the next day. I brought in the paperwork as requested, and was told that it would be covered by the warranty. The apple tech was not present, so it was going to be repaired when they were on site. At this point it was 5 days since I had first dropped the phone off. I got a call a couple of days later and was told that they would not honor the warranty because the cracks were "from the outside in", thus the problem must have been caused by some damage. I explained that this was no proof since the cracks would develop on whichever surface was strained the most (I am an engineer). I was told again that this would not be covered and this decision came from management. I took the phone to the apple store (where I should have gone in the first place) and got the screen replaced again, for just $9 more than I paid to Computers Plus. I've read reviews that are positive for computer repairs, but based on my experience, I don't recommend you use them...
