I went to Cylantros in Kennesaw for the first time last week and they're located off Cherokee St. not far from downtown Kennesaw. My friend and I were trying to figure out what to eat in the area that was affordable, but didn't want the same old chain or fast food restaurant. While searching on here I ran across Cylantros. I kept seeing the empanadas and couldn't get them out of my mind. I kept searching for places, but I ended right back to Cylantros. Based on the pictures the food looked appetizing and neither my friend nor myself have ever had Venezuelan food before so we decided to give it a try.
We went on a Monday in the middle of the day around 1 or 2 and it was raining that day so there wasn't much traffic there when we arrived, but there still was a number of people dining in. The restaurant is attached to a gas station and on arrival my friend stated, "Oh this is about to be good!" Lol. The restaurant hada nice atmosphere and they had instrumental jazz music playing while we dined. Along with a relaxing feel, the restaurant was nice and clean. The woman at the front was very nice and pleasant which I find important when thinking about great customer service.
I ordered a chicken empanada which was $1.80 and the catira grilled arepa which was $7.49 so in total I payed a little over $9. The arepa was filled with grilled chicken, lettuce, cheese, and tomato. I could tell that the cheese was regular cheese that I could probably find in the store and probably not authentic, but I didn't mind. My friend ordered the lunch special with steak and a side of sweet plantains. I think the lunch special was $8.99, which comes with choice of meat, beans, rice, pico de gallo, and 3 soft tortillas. Our food was made to order with the exception of my empanada. They have them already prepared and in a warming case at the front. I didn't mind because I was starving. The empanada along with our food was accompanied by a cilantro dipping sauce and some type of Chile hot sauce. I wasn't going to try it, but boy am I glad I did! I loved the cilantro sauce. The hot sauce was a little too spicy for me, but my friend enjoyed it.
We both were definitely satisfied with our food choice that day. Cylantros has great comfort food that gets you full at a rather inexpensive price. I don't have any other Venezuelan cuisine to compare it to since this was my first experience, but for my taste buds it was amazing and left a great taste in my mouth. I'll...
Read moreI have to say I am disappointed for the third time, I am new to the area, have relocated from Jonesboro GA, where I made myself a regular at La Oaxaquena Taqueria visiting at least 3 times a week, if anyone is familiar with them or have lived in California, frequented Tijuana you will be very displeased with this restaurant (Cylantros) I don't think I will be going back, unless I'm absolutely in dire need of tacos and don't feel like traveling that 45- 50min drive to Jonesboro......I did not feel a warm pleasant welcome upon entering it's compact interior, got a "ugh why are you here" kind of vibe from the young man making my tacos, which had me nervous believing I had to watch them while cooking my food.... maybe they are not so fond of anyone outside of their own ethnicity.....the portions were for feeding a two year old, I should have taken pictures for you all (I ordered ten large tacos)....the meat was well seasoned, however unfortunately each time I went in the meat was also still tough, they should work on tenderizing the meat, I also asked for extra hot sauce which they are already naturally stingy with giving about a teaspoon in a small sauce container, my shells were stale as well. I see that this is good old Venezuelan food not Mexican still no excuse for the poor...
Read moreWe ordered delivery food from this restaurant through Door Dash. After a very long wait, they finally gave our order to the Door Dash driver. We got our food (late) and minus one of our ordered items. We called Cilantro’s and they said that we could go and pick up the item they forgot to send! Obviously if we ordered our food it was to avoid driving to the restaurant! When we said that we couldn’t go, the person on the phone said that the manager wasn’t available and there was nothing he could do for us at the moment. He asked us to call again in 30 minutes, to speak with the manager. We called again after 30 minutes and the person said that the manager was not there yet. Hours passed, on our last phone call to Cilantro’s the same person from before told us that: “The manager said that there wasn’t a way that they could refund us our money and they could not help us in any way, that we have to call Door Dash”. We did call Door Dash and they were the ones that refunded our money. I won’t order from this restaurant ever again! Really bad...
