Hobby Lobby — Local services in Kenosha

This one star is based on cashier service only. I believe the product and the usual service have been impeccable for decades until recently. I found these clearance pots on clearance in November 2024.

Due to the Christmas shopping rush, I experienced one of the most bizarre encounters with a cashier who charged two items I didn't purchase and when I asked a refund and showed them the pots from the actual purchase. The manager had no issues with refunding it. It was going well until the cashier at the register didn't read the cash tender receipt and handed a return credit receipt with no cash and dismissed me.

Because I got paranoid with the first receipt, I read the return credit receipt and found that it was in cash.

Now, this cashier named Victoria (blonde middle-aged lady with glasses) said she didn't remember not giving me cash. Mind, this was 20 seconds from when I turned away from her counter to review the receipt. Now I insisted on the manager to review the cameras, and she DIDN'T return cash. I told Victoria more than twice that she didn't return the cash and showed her my purse content. She claimed she can't recall handing over cash and that's when I realized that she doesn't even remember her actions even when I was her only customer for 15 minutes.

What makes the experience a ONE STAR was that integrity was lacking with both cashiers. PLEASE check your receipts in the store before exciting and don't be fooled by the kind ladies. They make mistakes more than the cashier's...

I do rely on this store as my primary and closest option for art supplies. And I greatly appreciate the Christian aspect of the store. But the selection definately hoovers quite close to the hobbyist verses professional level of supplies. Product Knowledge amongst staff on supplies and usage is basically zero . The prices at hobby lobby are sky high with that in mind. I say that thier 40% off coupon available daily is the thing saving thier behind. It's definately the top reason I go there. The sales are good and rotate well through the categories but everyday pricing is so steep. The selection in each category at those prices is lower than expected. But they do have multiple sections. I think training staff or hiring more artists who actually know how to use and apply the items the store sells would be a really wise thing to invest in. It would improve sales and help keep costs low as well with more sales driven in this way. If anyone has ever been lucky enough to live and shop at a Blick art supply store ...they do just the most amazing job at a quality retail art supply store. And thier staff is heavily knowledgeble in the application of supplies. That comes in really handy when your spending alot or have questions about a purchase option. I am glad we have hobby lobby in town but you always feel a bit robbed when you get home with your little bag of stuff after shopping there. At minimum maybe some staff training on product knowledge would add value to...

Their selection of fabric is great with themes like camping, travel, sports, fairys, Disney, tropical, holiday, baby, horses, western, flowers, chab-by chic, lots of quilting fabrics, canvas, fleece, and more. They have a flower department, ribbons and crafts galore with fun papers, beads, leather, drawing, painting. One of my favorite things is the crafts for kids, weaving, bracelet & headband kits, model cars and paint, experiments and planting venus fly traps, and much much more. Then they also have a delightful collection of decorations and even furniture for your home. Picture frames (has a framing department), wall mirrors, neat Saying and they are themed together like horses/western, beach, tropical, super heros, big boy, sweet girl, country, and yes much more. They have seasonal items like many stores but it's different. You are going to find some unusual things vs the same old stuff you see at every store. I have purchased many gifts here, inspirational calendars, books, fabric, frames, bird houses, kid shovels, craft paints, coloring books, the etching crafts...lots of crafts, t-shirts, hats, bags, lighted lg birch trees, wall decoration sail boat, a flamingo hand towel, a lg horse wall hanging and more. My son has gotten many frames there including a standing foldable room divider full of pictures to fill. You will find fun things to do and beautiful things to add to your...
